View Full Version : Turkey dinner -8 months later
Yesterday, the weather being cool, I cooked a turkey dinner for us all (9 of us in the cabin). It is a great cabin meal providing lots of leftovers for the extra people around. I decided to eat some of my sausage dressing as well as spinach casserole, turnip, turkey and gravy -no potatoes or cranberry sauce. I also had a glass of red wine. So, I was basically very satisfied with my meal. I figure about 30-40 carbs in all. before meal 5.7; two hours after 6.1. About one month after dx the same meal was: before meal 9.1; two hours after 13.8. I am thrilled to find that I can do this once in a while!

I love "non-Thanksgiving" turkey! There's just something so comforting about the smell of it cooking. I don't know why I don't cook it more often. I've never had a sausage dressing (sounds good though), mom always made cornbread/sage dressing and that's what I always make.
Mmmmm now I want a turkey dinner...and it's not even lunch time here!:eating:

. . .I've never had a sausage dressing (sounds good though), mom always made cornbread/sage dressing and that's what I always make. . . .
You've heard that story about the little girl helping her mother prepare the Easter ham? As they're preparing the ham for the oven, the mother cuts 2 inches off the small end of the ham. The little girl asks her why she did that. The mother replies, "I don't know--that's just the way Grandma always cooked her hams. Let's call her and ask."
So they call the little girl's grandmother and ask her the question. She tells them that she doesn't know, either; that's the way she learned watching her own mother.
Fortunately, Great-Grandma is still alive, so they get on the phone with her, and ask the question. Her reply: "Because otherwise, the darn thing wouldn't fit in the oven!"

great..now i'm craving turkey dinner! (i can actually smell it...)
UUhhh Dave, its in the mail! The leftovers go on for a long time. Elle, think of it this way, instead of having to skip two dishes, you only have to give up one.;) I love that story, Shottle. Its one of those stupid human things.
