Diabex (metformin)

I think is making me REALLY sick. Take it with breakfast, lunch and dinner. All day I feel sick(nausea) and drained, Fri and Sat was up @ night I'm up vomiting :confused:
I do take other meds but not sure it's any of these- prednisolone, ramipril, cyclophasphamide (chemo drug- but only since Thurs) all for kidney disease. Creon forte + inhalers.
Can met really make you feel that bad?

YES, metformin can make you feel horrible when you first start taking it... and I don't capitalize to yell at you, there's just that many people who have this problem. Ordinarily, I would say that if you give it a little while it'll get better. But if you've got kidney problems, it may not be the metformin at all, or it may be that you shouldn't be taking it. Are you going to the same doctor for both situations? If so, are you certain the doctor was thinking in terms of your kidneys when he or she gave you the met? If you're not 100% certain that the doctor was thinking about your kidneys too when you got your metformin, you may want to call the dr office tomorrow and ask about that. Just to be safe.

I notice you say you're not on the xr version? My first thought was why in the world not? The xr version is available genericly now too, making it affordable, and lots of people have had less digestive issues and such with the xr than the regular version. Is there a reason you can't take it?
