Seems like a few of the test strips on the market are reacting to other drugs.

Here's an AP article on the subject:
The Associated Press: FDA warns of faulty results with blood sugar tests (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g7MCJhpzPfUsLbMOZ1-7LsrIbChwD9A2TUAG3)

Here's one from Med Page:
Medical News: FDA: Some Diabetes Monitoring Strips Confused by Nonglucose Sugars - in Endocrinology, Diabetes from MedPage Today (http://www.medpagetoday.com/Endocrinology/Diabetes/15538)

Scary stuff if your meter is lying to you.

I have to say I saw HUGE discrepancies between my accuchek aviva and my one touch ultra mini. The aviva ran very high compared to the mini, and I hated the insecurity of not knowing which was right.

I would say from my testing carb loads, the one touch is probably the right one.

But, I have NO IDEA why, I was not at the time consuming any "non-glucose sugars."

Had that with my Bayer.
On occasions I'd look at the meter result and just go "no way"
Went back and forth with Bayer a few times to determine it's the strips not the meter.

Finally just went with a One Touch. It hasn't happed again.

Yep. The article (at least hte medlineplus one) refers to very specific inteactions with medications though -- it looks kind of indistinct as it does not descrbie the exact meds involved ... just that they contain "non-glucose sugars?'

So I have no idea if it was the cause in my case!

in my case Bayer guessed it was caused by heat.
I live in florida.
Just how hot does a FEDEX truck get in the summer?
More than recommended on the label that's for sure.

The list is pretty limited, and its noted that the deaths (13) occurred from 1997-2009 and all in a "healthcare facility".
