I was recently diagnosed as being pre-diabetes, and my doc gave me a Freestyle to start with and it seemed my morning number was around 110-120 and post prandial was about 130-135. That meter was not covered by my medical insurance and I had to switch to a One Touch Ultra Mini. Since the switch my numbers are consistently about 20 points higher. Does this make any sense or it it aht my numbers really are higher? The One Touch had me enter a code that corresponded to one on the test strip cannister.
Thanks,
Mike

Its a common thing for one meter to be different from another, some test whole blood some test plasma which give different readings. Add to that there is a 20% plus or minus "error" allowed for test strips AND strips vary from batch to batch (the code you entered)
Best thing to do IMO is to keep testing, keep a record, and check your meter against the doctors when you go in next so you are on the same page

I'll second cyberus and add that in addition to testing against the doc's meter, take a reading when next you get blood work done. Write that one down somewhere so that when you get results back from the lab, you can get an idea of where that meter and lot of strips sit when compared with the lab. If you have several meters and/or several lots, test them all.
