Well, I was so proud of myself.... I had lost eight lbs. had gotten into a good exercise routine and bam......... This week ruined everything. I was at the school all week going to meetings etc. making copies, organizing my files, fixing my room. and stuffing my mouth with anything available. Sonic burgers, etc. I had even given up bread. OK. I know I can't have a negative attitude. In the morning I will go to the gym. I will go to the store tomorrow and stock up for stuff for good lunches and snacks. I just need to climb back up and get back with the program.

Posting it here makes it a lot easier to hold ourselves to it! :D Congratulations on the weight loss!
Everybody falls off sooner or later - so we dust ourselves off & get back on the "buckin' bronco" that is diabetes. You've done well and you're gonna do well some more. Hang in there! ((((Linda))))

Well a lot of people that want to loss weight, either just diet and or go start doing aerobics.
Those are the people who fall off the wagon easier because their muscles are not toned and have lower muscle mass.
I did not know it but muscles store sugar. And maintaining muscle mass means that when you get busy have to get moving around alot all of a sudden you will not get burst of hunger since muscles are stronger and you have more energy.
If you go the gym do more RESISTIVE TRAINING and less AEROBICS.
Aerobics just burns all the glucose in your liver and fat. So your have no choice but to be hungry after a workout, you need constant energy intake to be active.
Building more muscle mass will store enery in your muscles more and you will have more energy and burn energy more efficiently and will make you less hungry when you get active.
Squats and Situps should be part of your new excercise program.

Linda,
I know how that is! I teach high school literature out here in Ga. Sorry you had a rough week. As granny said, just get right back on that horse. You can do this. :)
Sometimes those "off the wagon" weeks are a blessing in disguise. Now you realize the benefit of being "good". Plus, you took time off to get organized and going, which you needed to do. Sure, you could have done better...but next time! Maybe next time if you don't work out, don't eat sonic burgers. Or not the bread. Incremental improvement is good too!
And -- we all fall off sometimes. Just don't ever stay off!
Did you get a chance to look at the PDF that Mich recommended here (not to say that a small blip like this means that you are not handling D well--your post shows just the opposite) :
http://www.diabetesforums.com/forum/diabetes/42760-know-anyone-who-not.html
They talk about the fact that many of us need a "diabetes vacation" and refers to "unplanned vacations" that can have their positive side too. It is a very short booklet--mostly graphics but I found this particularly a helpful paragraph.
Don't beat yourself up. Probably planning ahead for vacations works out best, but..... You are back from vacation now and all is well.
