I knew it was coming a few days ago... but my head feels like it's about to explode, my ears are bugging me, and my nose is stopped up. Probably a sinus problem. Is it safe to exercise when feeling like this? I'm about to check my bg right now...

okay... fbg this morning is 160. That's in line with my numbers for the past few days, when I was starting to feel bad.

It depends on what is making you sick I guess.
When your sick you have toxins in your system, so drinking water helps get them out.
When I have sinus problems going outside and getting fresh air helps and getting fresh air in the house helps. I also rinse or wash out my sinus'.
I'm not sure if excercising will help, but a little walk might clear you up and get digestion going.
It's up to you at this point. I read once, that if your condition is "above the shoulders" you are OK (as in sinus/headcold) but below the shoulders (as in flu) do not. Or if you have a fever do not.
And of course, it depends. Don't go crazy, just maintain.

See... I ended up going ahead and doing 30 minutes of cardio yesterday, and I felt very lightheaded afterwards. I don't get to see my doctor until Monday, and I really don't want to go to urgent care and pay 2 copays in 2 days... but I want so badly to have lost a good amount of weight at that appointment on Monday, and I have no idea where I am now b/c I don't have a scale here at home yet... almost like I was scared I was going to erase all the hard work I have done in the past month if I skip a few days (I had already missed Thursday and Friday). And I'm still feeling sick. I now have a sore throat, my nose is stopped up, and my headache comes and goes.
So, now I'm scared to work out today b/c I don't want to get lightheaded again. But I don't want to not work out either. Grr.

Certainly lightheaded is your body telling you to chill out. Just watch your diet, drink lots of sugar free stuff and get better. The longer this lingers, the worse it is, right? So, get better fast. Everyone gets sick sometimes, and you aren't going to totally regress unless you just sit around and eat badly.
You are motivated and doing great. Just work on getting better now. Then when you are "back" and feeling good, appreciate feeling good and being on-track!

Wow. This is wierd. I took your advice and did not exercise today (in fact, I ended up sleeping most of the day). My bg two hours after my bedtime snack? 128. That's the lowest reading I've had all week.
Lesson learned: while logic would dictate that exercising lowers bg, when I am sick, exercise can actually exacerbate already elevated bg's. Perhaps b/c the body is working hard enough at fighting the illness already and can't maintain bg as well? Or something to that effect...
I guess I'll see how my bg is in the morning before planning to exercise for the day, since I still have a sore throat and pressure in my ears.

Well I read somewhere that stress increases glucose.
If you were drinking a lot of water and resting that will bring your sugar down.
Keep in mind that when you workout you also burn fats and protien which creates by products that can backlog in the kidneys and blood if you don't drink water.
So drinking water and rest will definatly clean up your system of toxins.
Eat some garlic, it kills all kinds of desieses and can even help with some cancers. look it up.
