Hi - about a 5 weeks ago I was dx with T2D. I am embarking on an fitness and excercise rountine seriously to bring down my BG and to loose weight - formerly I Used to walk on treadmill and bike ride and about 4 years ago I used to do body pump 3 x a week.

My routine is as follows - 3 x times a week BodyPump and 3 x times a week walk on treadmill (45mins) 1 day - 2 hour session of badminton.

I found that my BG levels were am 5.2 and Pm 5.5
For B/Fast I have a protein shake with about 2 large strawberries ( protein shake as zero carbs and no sugar). I also add 1 tsp of lupin 8 (for fibre) and 1 tsp of flaxseed oil.

Lunch is chicken and spinach (salad)

Dinner would be either chicken or beef (steak) with veges.

I consume coke zero. I don't eat fruits ( don't like them). I may have some cashews or almonds for snack afer dinner.

Will this enable me to loose the extra weight? Mind you after pumping on Friday night for the first time after 4 years, I could hardly walk, or sit on the toilet:eek: my muscles were so sore - but I still pushed myself to play badmington on Saturday. Had better games before but still enjoyed the session. I might cut down the badmington to 1 hour - till my body gets used to pumping weights again and muscle aren't too sore! Rested on Sunday - but cleaned the house, ran around the shops with daughters etc...

I hope all this will help me to loose the etra kilos.

Hi ODAR!

The reality is that just about any exercise routine will, over time, add muscle, reduce fat, and help to bring your biochemistry into a better balance. The real key is to be able to continue the program for a long time (i.e., the rest of your natural life...)

Therefore the key to success is to develop an exercise program that contain things that you like to do. Most of us do exercises with the attitude that this is something that we "have-to-do" (and say that with dread) and therfore the program doesn't last.

The key elements of any successful program are first motivation, next that it get all of your major muscle groups working, that it gets your heart rate up and sustained for at least an hour per day. As to what the routine will be is up to you. Personally my exercise is all about bicycling and tandem bicycling in particular. Others do things that get them motivated. I even know one couple that lost a whole bunch of weight Ballroom Dancing. The choice is yours -- just make sure that you have a program you are willing to pursue willingly.
