Combine egg and Splenda, beat until mixed thoroughly. Add milk and flavoring. Serve over crushed ice or cubes.

Blueberry or Strawberry Smoothie
This is a blender recipe.

1/2 C blueberries (8 g carbs) or strawberries (4-5 g carbs)
2 T Water
2T Soy protein isolate, 90% (0 carbs)
1/2 C Crushed ice

For each serving, thoroughly mix 1/2 cup thawed berries and 2 tablespoons each water and soy protein isolate in a blender. Add 1/2 cup crushed ice and blend until smooth.
Serve in a 12-ounce glass.

Optional: Use cream or carb-aware milk instead of water (<1 g carbs) and four drops of Splenda liquid (0 carbs)

* SOY PROTEIN ISOLATE

Soy protein isolate is protein that has been extracted from the soybean. It is a common ingredient in many infant formulas, nutritional supplements, and other consumer products. It will not change the flavor of the food, but it will alter the consistency of the food by thickening it. It is a great source of amino acids and high quality protein that is also low in fat and calories. It is a wonderful source of the phytoestrogens, genestein and dadizein.

Tips on using soy protein isolate
Add it to shakes or smoothies or even fruit juices
Add it to dressings and soups to increase the consistency

*Generic Soy Smoothie

Mix 3 heaped tablespoons (30g) of Soy Protein Isolate with carb-aware milk or water. For the best results mix with a screw topped mixer or a food blender or put in a jam jar and shake virorously. (<0.9 g carbs)
Add daVinci syrups to create your own flavours or add to your Crystal Lite drinks .

Strawberry Shake 7g carbs

1/2 cup heavy cream
2 Splenda packets
1/2 cup frozen strawberries, partially thawed
1/4 cup water
5 ice cubes

Blend in blender until ice is integrated into mixture. Serve.

You could substitute soy milk or carb-aware milk for the cream; if you do, reduce the ice slightly.

Lynne's Generic Shake

3/4 C carb-aware milk (3 g carbs)
1 egg
pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla or almond flavor

Blend and pour over ice.

If you have DaVinci or Cadbury syrups you can omit the vanilla and spices, change this to the available flavors, and not add any carbs.

For a nighttime treat also add a couple of drops of brandy or rum instead of the vanilla or almond.

Cappuccino Shake

1/2 cup heavy cream or coffee cream (check carbs on container)
1/2 cup of coffee, cooled (instant or drip, I like Tim Horton's)
1 Tbsp splenda
2 drops Brandy (or rum)
1 dash Cinnamon

In a blender, combine milk, coffee, sweetener and extract. Blend until coffee is dissolved.
Serve with a dash of cinnamon.
For a hot drink, pour into a mug and heat in a microwave and use hot coffee as the original source.
