That's great! I'll be getting there soon... I was at 135 after my mid morning snack :)

I wanted to test my limit and had a bagel for breakfast this morning and two hours later I was at 106. I am pleased with that because that bagel was huge and I would guess it had 40-50 g of carbs. What has more effect, how much you eat or what you eat? For me definitely, how much I eat has more effect on my BG.
Binneman, when you eat a complex carb like a bagel, you might want to also check the 3 and 4 hour. It may be considerably higher. Pasta used to do that for me, the spike came much later than with simple carbs.

Hi jps, that is a great point. I will keep that in mind and perhaps test again with a starchy breakfast, like a bagel. I am starting to realize how complex and individual sugar regulation in our bodies is. For example, today at lunch, I ate a peach, an orange, a decent amount of fish, a small whole grain bread, and lettuce. After that I had a bottled starbucks frapuccino which had 37 g of carbs. Two hours later, my BG was 87 - the lowest point for me so far and I repeated the test and got the same number. So I agree with the idea of testing the entire spectrum of foods or as much as possible to understand the body's response.

Great number for a 2 hr post, especially given what you ate. I don't detect any fat in there though, unless the starbucks had some in there.
It's very quirky and tough to figure out. That's why you are going to want to log these things and observe patterns. You'll come across definite "can't have's" and "have as much as I want's". Some will be "can have just a couple bites". And then you have days where everything you've learned goes out the window for the day. Go figure.

This morning I woke up at 106, then I had a cup of coffee and a banana bread at Starbucks. That bread had 56 g of carbs and 33 g of sugars. I tested two hours later and I came out 113, pretty good. I am increasingly finding out that to me the quantity of food makes big difference relative to what I eat. When I am too full even on a lot of fats and minimal carbs, I come out higher than when I eat a load of carbs and feeling much less full. I had lunch at an Indian buffet yesterday and just simply loaded on the meats and veggies and some curries but I ended up at 128 two hours later. But I had eaten a lot of food. I am doing all these things to understand my specific response to certain foods at different quantities. I am getting a much better understanding with a lot of testing. Testing a lot is a great tool.
