Okay I tested fasting at 97. Ate breakfast, a cheerio's and a piece of toast with promise butter. I tested at 150 post meal, is that okay?

Did you have milk> what kind, and how much butter?
also, how long after the meal did you test, and are you taking any meds?
They generally say they like it to be less than 140 2 hours post meal. But each doc is different.
:) Hope that helps.

1% milk and a thin layer. No meds, just pre D with two type 2 parents. Just want to keep an eye on things. Tested one hour post.

Many of us find that cereals are hard to deal with blood sugar wise. Milk also has lactose, a natural sugar. Adding bread to the mix would only make blood sugars go higher.

At 2 hours? No it's not OK. 140 should be your max.
You're eating a lot of sugar there. I know you may not think so or want to hear it, but you are. Try replacing the Cheerios and/or toast with protein and fat like eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese, natural unsweetened yogurt, etc.

It was one hour post, my two hour is usually higher when I have tested in the past.

If you're over 140 at the 2 hr mark, you'll know this is a food you should have infrequently.
IIf I were you, i'd try to find a breakfast that causes less of a BS rise. I know you're only pre-D, but continuing to eat something that you know adversely affects your blood sugar will only lead you into T2 more quickly.

I saw that later. Here's a very helpful discussion.
