Had my Dr. send in the paper work for a Ping and talked to the rep yesterday. I sent them my last 30 days of logs and they sent more paperwork to my doc. Next up is insurance approval. How long did yours take?

I am looking at $2350 for the pump and first 3 months of supplies out of pocket.

Does the Ping come in different colors? Or do you need to buy the skins for that?

Yes, the Ping comes in lots of different colors. The skins will give you more choices. Here's the link...
Get OneTouch Ping - Animas Insulin Pumps | Animascorp (http://www.animascorp.com/animas-insulin-pumps/buy-onetouch-ping-insulin-pump)

You can also get the Inset infusion sets in pink, green (maybe), blue and grey.

I just got my Ping on Tuesday. I had a really unusual experience - my insurance company wanted tons of hoops jumped through before they'd start the approval process, but once the final request was submitted it was approved the same day. The guy helping me, from Edgepark, said he was amazed. Apparently it varies a lot, but two weeks is not unheard of.

Sorry to hear it's going to cost you so much out of pocket, that's really rough. Mine was half that, $1150, which is still a ton of money.

I am going straight through animas. If I wasn't a diabetic, my insurance would be great! 50/50 Dme sucks, but I will live.

I hear ya. If it weren't for my insurance company, I'd find being diabetic a lot easier. That was one of the best parts of the five years I spent in Canada - it was ridiculously easy to get all of my supplies, including insulin.

Enjoy your cyborg pancreas, and welcome to the group. Apparently, resistance is futile.

Both my insurances will pay some, so I am grateful. Will start in 21/2 weeks and have been reading the pump blog stuff. It all seems so complicated that I am freaked out. Also, other than replying to a current thread, how does one post to the DiabetesForums?

Wow that is a lot of money. When I got my Cozmo in 2008 I paid $180 for the pump and 3 months' supplies were covered completely.

When you're looking at a subforum (like "Pumping Insulin"), right above the list of threads is a button that says "New Thread." Welcome to the forum.

I have a Ping sitting in its box right now and have had it about a week. My training will not start until Oct.5. I guess the long wait for training must be normal, but I am ready to go right now! I have already waited about 3 months for the Ping to become available in Canada and my patience is wearing thin. Pat

My out of pocket was $2500, so I hear you on expensive! I was able to trade in my old pump to save $700 though, so that made it less horrible.

For those waiting for their pump or waiting for training I would highly recommend getting and reading the 4th edition of Pumping Insulin by John Walsh. Generally not in libraries or book stores, but available for only ordering. It is the best refernce for issues about pumping.
