When I'm clothed, my pump gets clipped into a front pant pocket - perfectly happy with that. But when I am in a state of less robe - most of the time I'm at home, I might often have free flowing clothes on, like dressing gowns or the like or just.... less clothes on, like, well, very little, and the pump becomes a bit of a pain. In bed, I like it floating. Out of bed, I'd like another solution.

So I'd like to get a thigh holder for those times. Anyone have one or have experience of one? Actually have had a friend make me something out of material and velcro but it just doesn't stick to the thigh, slips down. I want something soft and secure. I might get one of these:

Products: Medtronic MiniMed Online Store - United States (http://www.minimed.com/mmStore/application?origin=sub_category_view.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.portlet.event&pageid=Products&portletid=Products&wfevent=product_detail_direct.event&wlcs_catalog_category_key=C-ACC-104-P)

and see how it goes, but thought I'd ask if anyone had experience with these or maybe another brand or type they recommend.

If that does not do it, you might try pajama or garter elastic instead of fabric?

Okay Subby, a little too much info! LOL

I do not have that kind of problem with KIDS!

I did buy some t-shirts with a pocket so when I am just wearing boxers I put my pump in my shirt pocket.

I am a free floater too while in bed. DW tends to shove it back on my side every now and than

And then there is THIS ... great stuff, used it for restraints for my daughter for OT, among other things ... it is available for humans under another name and in more solemn colors ...

vetrap - Google Product Search (http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&safe=off&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS328&q=vetrap&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=GlKpSujPIpLknAeRuJilDw&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=1)

But also on EBay and such! We actually bought it much cheaper from the veterinarian ... pharmacies marked it way up!

Linda:Oh ya, Vetrap works great. We used it for one of our old pups when she had surgery. Does not pull on hair. LOL

And the variety of sexy colors. Ya baby!:D

Great colors, reusable .... I recall one time, in an effort ot get our (18 mo) daughter to use her arm, we actually had her tied into a high chair with it, including her "good" arm, so she would have to use her weaker arm! This sounds a bit ... over the top, but she is now 8 and no one is even aware she has this condition (other than her and her parents!).

Most times we just bound up her more functional hand.

I'm ordering some of that stuff to have on-hand for random injuies. I bought some that had another name (as in for humans) and it truly was TWICE as much. Great idea.

I used a thigh holder from a place, but it was $32. Fun, creative diabetes cases & accessories for kids and adults, walk t-shirts, insulin pump cases and support items. (http://www.pumpwearinc.com) Do a search for "thigh" and they show arm bands and such "bands". The thigh thing worked fine for me in a rare time I wore a dress. I'm sure you could go to a fabric store and rig one up much cheaper.

Last, the spibelt is comfy, that's what I often use in such situations. Just set the waistband sort of loose and you forget it's on. If you type "pump" in the code, you get 10% off. Spibelt | Running Belts | Fitness & Travel Belt | Passport & Phone Holders | Waist-Hip-Pouch-Money-Insulin (http://www.spibelt.com)

Are you still using that item you created with the toilet thing?? :D

If you wear a medic alert tag (or similar) on a neck chain, you can clip the pump to the chain.

Subby,

I have the one from Medtronics and I hate it. Unless you have it positioned as far up on your thigh as it will go, it slips down. I also tried to wear it just below my knee but had to fasten it so tight that it bothered me.

If you want it, PM me your address and I'll send you mine - I'm never going to use it.

Thanks for the info, all. Russ - sorry for any vivid imagery, didn't mean to put anyone off their dinner. Linda, great ideas, and that vetrap looks excellent. I might just get some anyway, it looks extremely useful for lots of things.

SCC, thanks for the links and ideas, filled for reference. With the toilet, I think I do still have a piece of material for clipping there... but I find I just leave my pump in my pocket and who cares if the line gets in the way a bit, I'm a bit more rough and tumble these days :)

Joel, good idea for chain wearers. I tend not to... but if I do, it's something to try. Deb, thanks for the feedback (that's what I was wondering) and that is a really thoughtful gesture, tell you what, I might order this vetap stuff and if it's not doing the trick, maybe we can do something then? Sound ok?

Subby -- Let us know if the Vetrap stuff works. If it does, I'll want to get some, too.

Just let me know if/when you want me to send the thigh strap. Except the folks here, I don't know anyone else who could use it. The one person I know who has a pump uses the omnipod.

Subby -- get some and if it does not work for this, I know you will find other uses for it ... and of course, try the cheapest solution first! :D

Sound advice Linda. Can't believe I never thought about keeping some around the house with 2 boyz, 3 cats and a puppy (now):) Vetrap is like duck-tape: A thousand uses.

My boyz love camo duck tape! Did not see camo vetrap, theres an idea! LOL

Hi all. First post ever.

The best solution is to clip the pump directly to a love-handle! :)

Personally, I have been pumping for about six months, and I purchased very baggy pajama pants with side-pockets. I can still sleep on my side, yet I can move the pump so that I'm not laying directly on it. Works pretty well.
