Do you test your blood glucose or do you check it?
To me personally, it seems to be my state of mind whether I'm testing, or just checking ;)
So do you test or check?

Interesting question AK.
I guess like you it depends on my state of mind, I use both terms.
If I think I am low/high then I test, otherwise I'm just checking ;)

Hmm pretty interchangeable terms really but just to stir up the controversy I'll take the counterpoint :D
I see the regular BG tests as feedback to let me know how I am doing in my BG control and as mentioned before I strive (although not always successfully) not to overlay any emotion on the result of the test.
On the other hand if I am feeling "out of sorts" I will check my BG because -- as we all know -- you can't be sure what it is and whether any correction is needed otherwise

Hey how's my AngelKitten :D. I would test for just curiosity or what ever the situation may be like I have been walking or the 2 hours after eating and before injections as there bis many excuses. :o
I wish I could test when I was dancing. :(:bawling:

If i'm heading out then i check, but if it's before a meal then i'll test, pretty much boils down to the same thing though.

Hmmm. When I'm using my meter, I'm testing. When I'm posting the number and evaluating fluctuations, I'm checking. So both I suppose.:D

The connotations that came to mind for me were thus:
Checking: I really know where by BG is most likely at, but I just want to make sure.
Testing: I'm not real sure what the meter will ready (due to not sure of carb count or other variables that I'm not confident of) so I better test.
so, I went with the option of both, and my goal is that I'm checking most of the time.

Interesting.
I tend to think about terminology regarding everything, diabetes included.
I hadn't thought about this specific area of it tho.
I always say test. No real reason, I just prefer to use one word. :D
Nice post Hello Kitty. :T

Seems to be the general consensus I'd say (including me!)
I strive (although not always successfully) not to overlay any emotion on the result of the test.
I'm completely with you on this one Frank, when I use the term "test" and then I'm not in "range" I feel negatively that I have failed on some level.
I wish I could test when I was dancing. :(:bawling:
You could Peter, just hold that arabesque a little longer! :T :D
Interesting.
Nice post Hello Kitty. :T
Thanx - careful I may have to nickname you Chococat! LOL! :T

I test and check. I test if I am just looking at my numbers before a meal. I check if I feel high or low.
