So about 6 months ago I was sitting in Panera Bread having lunch with my wife. We sat down at a table with our food, and I pulled out my pump and delivered a bolus. The paradigm 722 let out a few of its normal beeps, and I put the device back in my pocket.
A moment later, I hear the pump beeping again. I pull it out only to find that everything is normal, and there is no reason why it would have beeped. It was at that moment that I realized that it was not me beeping...
With pump still in hand, I turned to my left. At the next table was a middle aged guy fiddling with his pump. He looked at me and gave me a knowing nod. I nodded back. My wife did not notice our clandestine acknowledgement of endocrinological fraternalism.
We are all like members of a secret club...

When I went to Mexico a couple of years ago, I noticed at the pool there were two other people with pumps clipped to their bathing suits. I felt part of a very exclusive club.
Also, when KGM came to visit a few weeks ago, the favorite phrase was....."was that you or me?" to the beeps that consistantly went off during the day. :D

I don't pump, MDI for me.
But I do notice them...
Last week a tour was going thru where I work, and right off, I noticed a Minimed peeking out from under this guys shirt.
He was suprised since most people ask if it is a pager or media player of some sort.
I am familiar with them now, thanx mostly to DF, so I was able to spot it right off, even tho I have never actually used one. :D
Good stuff.

I am always on the hunt for fellow pumpers. I have spotted them under folks coats, a hose peaking out, etc. It sometimes freaks people out.
You start talking "pumping" and folks around you think you are speaking some kind of foreign lingo!:D
It is cool when you connect with one.

People never ask me what my pump is, because i keep it concealed. They do notice the tubing though. Since I work in an office, the tube comes from my pocket and appears to go into my beltline between my pants and where my shirt is tucked. Occassionally a co-worker asks "where does the tube go?" My response is always "it is attached to an insulin suppository" I usually tell them the truth after 2-3 seconds of awkward silence. :)

I am the chief of the court division of the local Sheriff's Dept. In my building, there are 3 Type 2's and two Type 1's (including myself), however I'm the only pumper. We have two local attorney's that are also T1 pumpers. I have the Ping, one of the attorney's has the Paradigm, and the other attorney uses the Omnipod. :)
I've run accross a lot of pumpers in stores. I've met two who use the Accu-Chek/Disetronic Spirit, and a few who use the Paradigm, including a 12 year-old 2nd cousin of mine (who happens to be the ONLY other Type 1 diabetic on either side of my family).
We are everywhere. LOL.

I'm always strangely excited when I notice someone else with a pump. It's a nice sense of familiarity. Like you already know the person.
I was at Sees Candy (no, not for myself...my husband is a chocoholic) and I was wearing my CGMS. All of the sudden I hear the na na na na (can't think of how to type out a song, but it's the sound your pump makes when your blood sugar goes low...the notes descend from high to low). I was dissapointed to say the least that it wasn't me considering where I was. I love Sees.

Another CGMS'er! I really gotta see if my insurance is covering it yet.
...Isn't it always the case that you never go hypo when you are in a candy store, or a chinese buffet, or something else delicious??

Just about two days after I got my pump I went to the fair with my husband. We got a pamphlet about the upcoming Diabetes Expo and they wanted to know if I could give a donation. I said sorry, I just spent $900 on an insulin pump, so a donation just wasn't in my budget. The one of the guys at the booth also had a pump. The other person had no idea such a thing existed. We started talking pumps - it was pretty entertaining. :D

I almost read it as "plumpers". Haha...
Was gonna say, I love all natural curvy women. :T
I had an employee at Macy's notice the pod on my arm a month or so ago. She said her son was about to have his Omnipod training later that week. She seemed so thrilled to see a real person wearing one, I thought she might cry.
My other recent "sighting" story was when the employee at the Arby's drive through asked if my pod was a nicotine patch. Yes, lady, I've got a terrible problem going on here...

Right after I got mine, I notice a young girl with the coolest Eeyore pouch clipped to her side. I noticed the tubing right off the bat. I had to chase this girl around to find out where she got it from. The lady she was with was so happy to talk to me and have me and the young girl chat about pumps. :)
Then today, a customer asked me up at the registers when I was checking out her purchase if I was wearing a pump (I don't hide mine but do wear it in a phone case but the tubing is easy to notice). I replied yes and asked if she had one. She said no but that she has a little girl in her Sunday School class who wears one. This lead to a short discussion of how long I've been diagnosed and how long I've had my pump. I'm not embarassed or ashamed to answer any questions asked about diabetes or pumping. :)
It's just so cool to see others wearing pumps. I get all excited. :D

Yeah! Customizable like cell phones, so I could put my favorite songs on it. The Ping allows you to chose from different "polyphonic" songs, or create them with a virtual keyboard. Not quite the same, but is better than the standard beeps.
I have only seen one person wearing a pump. I was at Walmart and he was sitting in the cafe. I had just got my first pump and REALLY wanted to compare notes...but I thought he would think I was some nutty stalker and moved on. :D

Lol!
I don't get to be discrete even if I want to, mission impossible with my two pre-schoolers in contstant attendance. Any time my pump makes the slightest beep they both chorus "Mama, it's Mr Schultz!" over and over, until I 'fix Mr Schultz'. :D

What would everyone choose as their ringtone??
I would choose that "applebottom jeans and boots with the fur" song if I had CGMS.
Shorty got Low low low low low low low low! :D
Or "Pump up the jam" from the '80s!!

I was so insulted that she thought I was some sort of perv!

I'm going to have to think about this question and get back to you.
My younger brother is also a pumper, so when we are in the same room together and the pump starts beeping, his wife will say "who's pump is going off?"

I have my pump and phone both set on vibrate most of the time. My hubby always says "Check your pump and phone. One of them is going off".

Since I've gotten my pump I haven't noticed anyone else with one. But when I was struggling to figure out whether I was going to get one or not I noticed a young girl in a mall with a MM pump clipped to her jeans - having fun, doing kid stuff, playing with her friends. She gave me the inspiration to get one myself...

Even though I don't need to explain myself to you, I will. I work around the general public all day so I always keep my pump set to vibrate, just feel it's more professional that way.
On the phone deal. I keep mine locked in a locker while at work and they don't want to hear cell phones ringing in the lockers so I keep it on vibrate and then forget it.
So...............:T
Sorry BB. Back to topic. :)

Last weekend I saw a pumper while waiting for a graveside service to start. Interesting location to discuss pumping and diabetes...
On a lighter note--the pump tone songs I've thought of would probably be for low BG alarms:
Sugar Pie Honey Bunch
Sugar, Sugar -- Oh Honey Honey
Big Rock Candy Mountain
The Candyman Can
But an overall one I think would be Satisfaction by the stones because usually that alarm means something has gone awry.
But props to whoever it was that came up with Pump up the Jam because that is great.

My husband kept telling me my bump was "beeping" one day. I kept telling him that this pump (Ping) doesn't beep, it plays a tune, so it wasn't me and I never looked. The next day I set a temporary basal while exercising. I heard a "beep"...thought it was my cell phone with a low battery. Nope. Figured I was hearing things. And then I hear another one a while later. Turns out that it does in fact just "beep" when there's a temporary basal active. Then I remembered that I had one set the day my husband was telling me that my pump was going off, but I haven't told him that. :D

Upside down to keep bubbles out of the tubing.
Putting the clip on the outside of your clothing with the pump hidden under your clothes and held snug against you.
Clipped on bathrobe lapels. In bicycle shorts (attached by a pin or in a sewn pocket), worn under trousers, skirts and dresses. In bras regular or sports models (not just for women anymore LOL!!), either in the front between the lumps <g> or clipped onto the back of the bra or under the arm. Pump can be hanging on the inside or outside depending on how you use the clip. You can put it in a little baby sock to prevent sweating against the pump. Some people use the bra band.In baby socks, or little bags, attached to the inside of clothing and underwearanywhere!
Clipped onto suspender belts.

I can't think of a good song for my pump, but I love all of your suggestions! So fun.
