2 weeks ago, I was placed back on Zyprexa. The goal is to get up to 15mg which will probably be done this Thursday or next. I tried 2 months w/o it and my bipolar mood destabilized. So now I'm back on it for my mental health. I'm just unfortunately going to have to chance the diabetes risk of the medicine and do the practical things like diet and exercise while on this medice to lower my chances as best I can. At least it's good enough weather out for now for that to be done. When winter comes I'll have to take some breaks of course and then resume when spring comes but I do have a positive outlook. The pdoc is looking to reduce my medication overload too, which is always a plus. I won't bore you to death but if you do have any other questions or comments feel free to post because I will always reply. Thanks for reading and have a great day.

Hey there Andy :)

I don't know much about Zyprexa, but I can tell you that, for me, exercise and healthier eating have worked wonders for my depression and anxiety. Maybe you'll eventually find this to be the case too; but if not, at least you're taking care of yourself. I know I tend to not take as good of care of myself when I'm in a depressive slump... so maybe for you the meds will help.

Take care, and don't be a stranger. :)

hi buddy. at this point I would take the zyprexa too.

I am having a hard time without the medical help, havn't decided what to do. zyprexa never helped me, just gave me diabetes.

but if that was the only thing that helped, I would take it. nothing is worse than an unstable mind. nothing.

good job trying. ya never know till ya try.

My husband has used Zyprexa for the last nine years, after he got off his depression meds & had a psychotic break. It took many many months to regain the ground he lost, and after the first coupla years he even got doc to let him wean off it for a month one time, but that was a disaster. Once he made up his mind that it's a necessity, and we went through months of carefully establishing the best dosage, he's been like the rock of Gibraltar the last several years. He also takes amitriptyline & paroxetine, but it's the Zyprexa that prevents the psychotic episodes.

And no, he isn't a walking zombie. He's well educated, reads voraciously, speaks intelligently (and occasionally right over my head! :D) and is very intuitive. People who don't know him never realize he's on such serious mental health meds, but I thank God for them and for him. Since he's already eating a good percentage of my own diabetes-oriented diet, I guess we'll just let the diabetes chips fall where they may.

I hope you'll continue to safeguard your mental health too, Andy . . . that's the most important thing.
