Animas is sending 5 boxes for 3 months. That is what they recommend for 3 months. I figure 4 boxes would be closer. We will see how it goes. How many do you use?

I suppose I get about 2.5 days out of a set if. 90/2.5/10 = 3.6 boxes.

Not to seem cavalier or wasteful but who is paying for the sets?
It may be useful to have a few extras around at all times anyway in case a set fails early, or if you have trouble when inserting a new set.

I am paying for 50% of the sets. I will be new to pumping. The pump will be here tomorrow. Haven't set up the training yet though. I'll see how it goes and readjust as needed.

Be sure to call around and get samples from all the companies, then you'll always have extras. :)

Minimed sends me 4 boxes of sets per month. I change every 3 days. If nothing goes wrong with any of the sets it means I have a box left over. I do sometimes end up yanking a set out accidentally. Recently I went through a period of bad (for me) insulin resistance. No reason that I could see. A few times I changed sets after 2 days, hoping that was the problem (it wasn't). So, 3 boxes would mean I could make absolutely no mistakes and 4 is more than plenty. I now have an extra little stockpile of Silhouettes from those 4th boxes.

I also have been getting 5 boxes per 3 months from Animas. I don't mind since they're covered 100%, but I certainly don't use that many. I change the set every 3 days (with the random bad site needing it sooner) and always have a box+ leftover from the last shipment. I'm sort of running out of places to store them all :). They send you enough to change it every 43 hours if you figure 3 months as being 90 days (whereas they recommend 72 hours). If you're paying 50% of the cost, I'd probably get less once you have a good backup supply built up.

I use 7-10 per month, so 21-30 per 3 months. My supplier, who used to be the manufacturers of the Cozmo, gave me 4 boxes at first then I requested 5 since they sometimes fall out or I need to take one out early. It is completely covered so I would rather have some extra in case something were to happen.

I use a set every 3 days, and 2 or 3 extras every year, mistakes and failures.

I get 6 boxes for 3 months. I don't use nearly that many, but my insurance has a screwy way of dealing with things and won't pay for an amount between 3 and 6 and 3 isn't quite enough.

I get a box of 10 sets per month, however I order 2 months (for two months) at a time which means I can just order more if necessary. The NHS (UK) pays for these, maybe I should order 3 boxes for 2 months to give me more backup.

I think 5 boxes is the standard first supply. Although I think most people probably go 3 days between set changes, sometimes 2 is the limit and you won't know that until you start using them. You also might have some set issues, like occlusions. Getting used to having tubing takes some time to. I don't know how many times I had tubing hanging out that got caught on something and yanked the sets, sometimes out. Once you get started you'll have a better idea of just how many you really need. I do 3 boxes, but have extras from the beginning.

I change every 3 days. So, 90 days / 3 = 30 changes, /10 sets per box = 3 boxes.
Add me to the 3 box per month crowd, but need a few extras...yesterday I inserted on and it wasn't in far enough to my liking, so there went one!
