That sounds absolutely divine.
I forgot what the inside of Burger King looked like.
Well its been so long, I forgot that eating a double Whopper at noon, means it is still with you at 4:30, O-Happy day.

Thanks, I never thought to do this.
I had forgot about the lasting effect of those burgers, dinner was a light one, at 7:00pm, still burping up the Whopper, 6.5 hrs later. It was good though.

Buffalo burger from Trader Joe's, grilled on a George Foreman's grill, with melted provolone on top, served on a bed of mixed greens dressed with olive oil, and a side of green olives. Dessert: a half-ounce of unsweetened baking chocolate and 10 blueberries.

I'm curious as to why no cheese? I eat my burgers w/o as I don't care for melted cheese, but I wouldn't think the cheese would have caused a difference in BS response.
Never aquired a taste for the industrial cheese most fast food places use. Nasty, Nasty, Nasty

Yeah, that sounds absolutely delish...
I never had a big appetite for fast food unless the urge struck me. And now, as a type 2, I would never even go near it. Aren't there by-products and fillers in some burgers? I think that could raise BG. Forget the buns.
Why not just make yourself a great burger at home instead? I have a recipe for the "secret sauce" that McD's uses if anyone wants it. It's no secret. My favorite burgers are Italian with melted mozzarella and a large slice of tomato, Mexican with cheddar cheese and spices like chili and cumin in the meat, even a drop of liquid hickory smoke. Mushroom Swiss and things like that. I skip the bread so I can have some oven baked sweet potato fries with it and those can be jazzed up with different seasonings to match your burger. A burger with 6 ounces of fries, and that's a plate full, is about 30 g carb. So, why go fast food when you can have fabulous food?

*sigh* and then there are those of us who cannot tolerate the taste/ texture of sweet potatoes... and fries are one of my biggest weaknesses too. I'm still looking for a viable alternative lol.
The whopper thing sounds good though... never tried it- I just may this weekend. :)

Try the green banana fries, Moonglo . . . they're definitely a reasonable facsimile!

Thanks Granny, I'll have to try them :)
I agree, I would much rather cook my own burger, but sometimes we are under time constraints.
One of my favorite burgers at home:
Ground Chuck: Patty out and press and indentation sorta like a pizza dough. Salt, Pepper
When the burger starts to sizzle on the skillet, I fill the center portion with Red Hot sauce, let that cook in for a while, flip, look out at this point. When top side is brown flip back over and cover with Swiss cheese.
More of a mans burger I guess

I stopped eating beef for the most part because I could never seem to get the middle 'done' enough to suit me w/o over browning it. Do love a delish burger though and would love to try a 'secret sauce' for it....if I could learn to cook it just right. sigh.........
I use cast iron skillets and a hamburger press, like the ones you see in the rest. Works well, heat up skillet with the press in the center, throw in the patty and cover with the press.

Making the indention (or a hole clear through) will eliminate the raw center problem. You don't even need to fill it with anything - I make a somewhat-smaller-than-dime-size hole & it closes as the burger cooks. 'Course I like a good thick burger, my DH abhors rare meat, so this little trick has saved a lot of frazzled nerves around this ranch . . . :D :D :D
(I also use a cast iron skillet (which holds heat like you wouldn't beLIEVE!) and have considered getting a press for a long time . . . guess I'll put it on my Christmas list this year.)
