Got my prescription refilled today. Was very stressful getting everything switched back to the University Pharmacy. Saw a handul of kids wearing the flu masks, yikes! (the pharmacy is in the health clinic) Was surprised to see a new look when I picked up my strips. Has anyone else had these yet?

Yep, the're the ones I've been using for about 2 weeks now.
Seem to work the same as the other ones. :)

My Animas rep who did my pump training had them. They are supposed to use less blood and suck it up faster. They will also all be Code 25, so no more coding. :)

I have been using those for about 4 1/2 months now. They do take a little less blood.

I started using the One Touch Select meter along with the strips. The coded part that goes into the meter is a bit different but I haven't noticed a change in the amount of blood used.

Wierd... I just got mine refilled on Friday, and they were the black ones with the silver letters on them. Maybe I'll be looking forward to some new strips next time.

Sounds like a marginal improvement. Hope I get fewer error messages. Hate that my insurance forces me to use OneTouch.

I've still gotten a couple of errors with them. Maybe not as many as before, but that's probably also because I have more experience now than before. :P

I'm so happy no one can force me to use a certain brand of their choice. I feel the choice of meter should be the individual's because it's not the insurance company who has to use the meter in question...
But i do hope the new OneTouch strips are better than the old ones, the little i have used OneTouch, i had more errors than actual readings:eek: As far as i know here, we still have the "old" strips. If we get the "new" strips here soon i *might* consider trying OneTouch again. I've been thinking about trying the OTUS for a while, but the strips keeps me from buying one:eek:

I've used them for a couple months. Haven't noticed any less blood usage, but I hadn't been looking for that. I've had very few error messages with them, but didn't have that many with the old one touch strips. I love the fact that they're all code 25!

I'll have to keep an eye out - I just refilled but they all seem to be the old style still...but all code 25, too!

I used to use the Ascensia Elite XL which took more blood and about 30 seconds to read it. I was updated to the OneTouch Ultra. I noticed it took less blood to activate the Ultra and only about 5 seconds to read it.
So I have noticed much less blood and quicker response time. When first got the meter the first code was 18. Now it seems like they are all 25 which I like.

According to the Animas rep, there's just a lot of the old style on the market still. As they get sold and used, they'll be pushed out of the market and you'll only see the new style.

My recent shipment from Edgepark were the old style (which is still pretty new to me!), black with silver letters. They were code 25, though. These new "all code 25, all the time" strips will not let those of us using an UltraSmart meter forget about coding, though. The UltraSmart forces you to stop & acknowledge the code every 25 tests. This is where I waste the majority of my strips, going on autopilot and applying blood to the strip while the meter is stuck on the Check Code screen. Drives me crazy! Maybe they'll come out with an updated UltraSmart to fix that.

Yes I agree, it catches me almost every time, none of the others do it. We should all rise up and complain, perhaps they would fix it?

Funny thing about that feature is that its doing what its supposed to do, make you check the code before testing, so that you don't waste test strips using them with the wrong code...a little ironic. ;)
I got a refill yesterday and got one box of the new strips, rest are old. We'll see if they're any better.

Done that more times than I want to think about, too. I used to put a rubber band or piece of tape on the new vial as a reminder to approve the new code. I've apparently lost a strip somewhere because to code check no longer appears with each new bottle - it a strip or two off.

I'm in the same situation as you guys are. Sometimes (although not as much lately) I've given the blood into the strip when it is still asking for the code (Doh!) and mine ask at random points through the bottle too because sometime I use my Mini. Oh well, moral of the story is pay attention to the screen before you give it your hard earned blood!
Anyways, I think the new strips do actually suck it up faster. It's cool. I think it's the same amount of blood though. Change is good!

You can get it back on track by remembering to enter the code when you open a fresh vial even though the meter isn't asking for it yet. I generally get my entore 90 days of strips with one lot/code # so when I remember, I will just press the arrow button up once then down once to set the code when I open a fresh vial if I know the count is off.

That's not a bad idea, I've lost a few too many strips when I'm on autopilot and forget to check if the check code screen is hanging there.
Like Liz said, you can get your meter back in synch with the vials by when you start a new one, press the buttons you need to change the code number, that resets the meter to starting its 25 strip countdown.

I used the new test strips a little bit ago and it could be my imagination, wishful thinking? But they do seem to suck up the blood better and use less blood! I've only tested twice with them, but so far...:D

Thats a great idea, I use two meters sometimes, so mine is way out of sync and because all the strips have been code 25 for a long time now, I have not reset the code in ages.
Also, I guess this means that even though they have standardised on code 25, we still will need to re-enter the codes, when starting a new vial, which kinda defeats the object, doesn't it.

I used the new strips all day today and only got one error, lol. I don't know why either because I filled the window? I think the fill area is shorter than the old ones?

Do these strips also work in the UltraMini?
I'm thinking about getting the UltraMini to keep in my desk here at work, and would like to be able to use the same strips that I use currently with my Ultra2.
Is that a stupid question? I hope not. :)
Thanks!

I stopped by Walgreens today and picked up my OneTouch Ultra Mini. It didn't come with the control solution as advertised, so I was a little distraught.
It does seem fine, otherwise. It really isn't any smaller than my Ultra2 -- it's just a different shape. The case is pretty big and clunky like Subby has complained about sometimes.
Anyway, I tested (same finger) between the Ultra2 and the Ultra Mini. The Ultra2 gave me a 94 and the Ultra Mini gave me a 98. So, I guess I'm pretty happy with that. Precision does not necessarily mean accuracy, but at least it seems reasonable. :)
Thanks for you guys' help.

I was told the BG mechanism in the One Touch meters is the same regardless of the case. If I could figure out how to split one short of using a chisel I would check :)

You should call OneTouch and tell them that you didn't get the control solution. They'll most likely send you one.

Thanks, I may give that a shot. If not, I can order it off of drugstore dot com (I've used it a couple of times in the past) for like 12 dollars or something.

I finally got a box of the new kind - they do take a little less blood and one of the sensors goes all the way to the end (bad picture but you get the idea):
