My endo told me yesterday that Dexcom is teaming up with Animas and offering an intergrated CGMS system come the first of next year.
Any of you Ping'rs hear about it?
If it is true, I am glad someone is taking a run at MM.:D

I've heard it will be spring.. but then others have heard end of '10, so it's hard to say. It is definitely coming though - I'm excited :)

Good news, and I have another reason I like to hear it - having more integrated solutions means that hopefully it may be better recognised as a common feature of pumping. So hopefully another step for both more insurance companies in US etc to support it more, and insurance companies in Australia etc to start to support some CGMS at all!

I'm strangely dubious.

Thats what the Animas rep said. He also quoted a $299 upgrade price when it does come out, if your warranty isn't up yet. :)

I have been using a loaner from my endo for over a week now. My insurance will not cover one though. Here is the info I got from Dexcom regarding what I consider pertinent info:
Negatives: battery in transmitter lasts 12-14 months and w/o insurance is $520 to replace
Only a one year warranty on the unit. That S-CKS!!
Don't know what y'all's insurance pays but the cash prices and life/$$ of the transmitter Stink!
I do like the unit and the infusion set has not bothered me a bit!
Bottom line: If insurance covered a good portion like my pump and supplies I would have one.

That's pretty much why I'm getting one.. we met our deductible with our pump purchase so the dexcom and 3-4 months of sensors are "paid for" 100%. Not sure what I'll be doing next year though, once we have to pay cash.

Yes I've heard this from both Animas and DexCom. I'm just about to start pumping with the Ping and the DexCom sensor. It will be great to do away with one device that I have to carry around!
