How long do pumps last?

I know they carry a 4 year warranty. How long do pumps really last?

I think this is a really subjective question. How long does a car last? It depends on how you drive it. Some people are really hard on their pumps and others super careful. I know there are people out there going 7+ years with the same pump and don't want to switch. Older models are now not being replaced by some companies.

I am of the mind that I don't need to find out. If I can upgrade to something with newer, better technology, I will. But, I'm a gadget nerd too so....

I have had my current pump for over 6 years. I am sure I could get a lot more on it. However things do happen, I would like to get a new one soon just so that if a accident does happen I am covered.
