Today is Yom Kippur, the annual Jewish Day of Atonement. Part of the ritual includes a 25-hour fast. Last year was my first Yom Kippur after diagnosis. Before dinner on Yom Kippur Eve (last meal before the fast), I was at 108. Two hours after dinner, BG was 109, and at bedtime, BG was 103 (average for the day was 106). I took my BGs the next day, during the fast, at 2-hour intervals. This was my day:

7 a.m. 95 (Wakeup)
9 a.m. 98
11 am. 97
1 p.m. 91
3 p.m. 94
5 p.m. 104
7 p.m. 89 (Before Dinner)
9 p.m. 102 (After Dinner 2 Hr Pp)
11 p.m. 102 (Bedtime)

Average: 97

Last night, I was at 95 before dinner, at 102 two hours later, and at 97 at bedtime, two hours after that. My average for the day was 102. Last night, I woke up a little after midnight and tested 88; I woke up again around 2:30 and tested 93. Today's FBG, a little after 7:30, was 94.

I thought I'd keep track of my serial fasting BGs every couple of hours again, this year. Anyone care to join?

I don't fast, and I especially shouldn't right now because I have the flu and need every bit of nourishment I can get, but I applaud your numbers. Great job!

Gut Yontiff, ShottleBop.

Having one heck of an introspective day here...in keeping with the Holy Day at hand, I suspect.

107 at bedtime.
Woke up at 100.

Got all deep and everything and started a thread.
Emotions +18 Yom Kippur Fasting 0

I'm now at 118..still fasting...courtesy of Josselyn's body in high gear.
I'll check in from time to time.

I hope you're over your flu soon, MoonGlo. Is someone making you chicken soup?

And, yeah, ShottleBop's numbers are great, aren't they? Mine are approaching that level some days, but then they dance away again...

Thanks Josselyn. My mother came and spent the weekend with me because dh was already out of town when I found out how sick I was. I didn't want him coming home early because we were under a flash flood warning; besides, he never has any time with his friends these days. So my mom was nice enough to take care of me. I have soup, just need to fix some here in a minute.

Maybe both of our numbers will mimick Shottlebop's soon :)

I hope you start feeling better soon, Moonglo

I hope that (physically) you have an easy fast, Josselyn.

I seem to be running higher than last year. I wonder if that is partially due to the fact that last year at this time I was still actively losing weight, whereas now I'm not?

Assuming that **** exists. Judaism is not very big on fire and brimstone.

* Shrimp with Sriracha sauce, a couple of chicken sausages, Chinese greens, a salad of mixed greens, the inside (no crust) of a mushroom quiche (could have been made with flour), a couple slices of jicama, a small avocado. I had a glass of port and a glass of pretty sweet chardonnay; otherwise, our break-the-fast was a typical low-carb meal, albeit I ate more than I would have, had I not been fasting the rest of the day.

I made a big pot of Chicken Matzo Ball Soup for the break fast and we all enjoyed it so much. I was able to make the matzo balls with only 5.1 g carb each! It is going to be a better year! Happy, healthy and prosperous new year to all!
