Just diagnosed around a month ago and have been checking BG levels for about 3 weeks. Not on any medication as of yet. I noticed my morning fasting levels are always high (140+) even though other pre-meal readings during the day are closer to normal. I understand the "dawn phenomenon" but what can I do to lower these levels other than start on some type of medication?

I have been watching my carbs, exercising more and loosing a little weight.

Just interested if this is normal or not.

Try eating a low carb snack right before you go to bed and see if that helps. I like cheese, a spoonful of peanut butter, or a handful of almonds.

If that doesn't work, try a glass of wine before bed. Some have success that way.

Thanks Moonglo. I will give the snack thing a try.
