Okay, so I woke up at 2:30 this morning and my BG was 166. Hmmm...that's not normal, so I correct, go back to bed and wake up this morning to 157?! My husband leaves for work around 5:30 in the morning and always comes and tells me goodbye with a kiss on the hand, love ya's, etc., and although I'm half asleep, I remember. However, I do not remember it this morning? I changed my set out because it was time for a refill and change anyway...but now I'm wondering if my BG actually went low and the barely changing BG was not the set but the a rebound? How high will a rebound take you? I seem to remember reading somewhere that typically it doesn't go over a certain number...but what is that? BTW, this is totally not normal for me...not the higher BG (that I ever see) early a.m., nor the higher fasting (usually 70-90...closer to 90).

i've had that happen... where my levels seem to stay the same from one test to another, despite a correction bolus and i forget things in between these tests or i feel kinda funny but i forget to test...
it does sound like a rebound level but the the fact that you're higher than what you're used to in the AM, i'm wondering if your infusion set wasn't clogged or the tissue surrounding it wasn't stiff or tough... also, applying pressure or sleeping on any spot where the insulin is/has gone in can cause lows...
as for the certain level that a rebound will take you to, i'm not sure what it is, but from 166 to 157 doesn't seem too off to me, as far as a difference in distance... it would be like going from 86 to 77, not exactly something to stress over...
also, do you normally test around 2:30am? if not, perhaps 166 is a normal level for that time of the night but you'd never know it...

I wouldn't say I normally test at 2:30, but I had a higher protein meal for dinner and was actually concerned that I might be a little higher. I do occasionally test and normal would be 90-110.
I know that 166 to 157 is not much a difference, its just my correction should have brought it to around 90. Over the years I've woke up with a higher BG and corrected and was fine in the morning. I've never had one not really change at all. Sets or sites gone bad in the past left me with much higher levels in the same situation...like I would have woke up to more like 250 or more. Normally I would have retested when getting a number out of the ordinary but I was half asleep and blamed it on the buffalo burger patty I've never had before. I wonder now if maybe the test was off and caused me to correct unnecessarily? The site is a new site for me, nice and juicy. ;) And the set seemed fine...but then who knows. The thing that really makes me wonder is not waking up to my husband saying goodbye. I asked him if I responded to him and he said "not really". I don't know why this is bothering me...I guess I like to have answers and I probably will never really know. Thanks for taking the time to answer. :)
