So my sugars have been kinda high this past week, plus sweating a lot in the stupid professional clothing I wear in a school with no air conditioning has led to a pretty massive yeast infection in a matter of a few days. It literally takes WEEKS to get in to see my gyno, and I'm very allergic to any kind of over-the-counter stuff like Monistat. Is there ANYTHING I can do to help get rid of this thing? Or at least make it not hurt/itch? The only time I've ever had one of these before was right before DX.

Are you allergic to feminine wipes, or even baby wipes? If not, you may want to keep a slim pack of those in your purse. They may not cure the infection, but at least they may help with the itching and such.

I have heard that antivirals - both systemic and topical - can help. Think garlic, tea tree oil, even yogurt.

Yep, I've heard yogurt as well both eaten & topically, but make sure it's a unsweetened one if you use it topically because the yeast loves sugar.

Try yogurt (plain -- no pectin; Nancy's Organic is a good brand).
Also call your Dr. (gyno or GP) and see if you can get a prescription for Fluconazole 150 mg TABLETS. One tablet taken orally usually cures an acute yeast infection. (There's also topical fluconazole, but you want the oral stuff.)

I've used yogurt with success to at least "fend off" while waiting to see the doc. It's finicky, but you can actually fill an empty tampon inserter with it for more, um, thorough coverage.
And a gp or family doctor should be able to help you with this, if that's faster than waiting to see your gyno.

Call your primary for a sick appointment, your primary can write a script for something.

You poor thing, this is hideously horrible. Is there any chance of you being able to wash with water? I found when I had the use of a bidet my yeast infections were dramatically improved ie use every time after using the bathroom, making love (unless you want to get pregnant then you need to let the sperm lie as long as poss). Is there a shower you could use?
Do you need to see a gynocologist - maybe it's another type of infection?
Best of luck.

Yogurt, oral meds - Diflucan is another you can take. Boric acid can sometimes help as well. Any chance you take birth control and can make your period come on sooner? Having your period will balance the flora in there and will usually take care of a yeast infection.

If you can't get into the gyno try planned parenthood, you can ususally walk in, and if you tell them you're suffering, they will help you. I'm guessing you are allergic to Diflucan if you're allergic to Monostat, but if not, that stuff works!!

Yuck. There is no misery like a yeast infection. Ugh. SO been there, done that.
Having had a number of yeast infections over the years, I can tell you what has helped me.
If you're allergic to the monostat stuff, then that sucks, because my "magic bullet" has been the monostat in conjunction with the fluconizole/diflucan pills. However, I do have a few other tricks up my sleeve.
Take a warm shower and wash really well. When you get out, take a hair dryer and dry yourself until you're dry as a bone. It will be uncomfortable, but the itching should go down. Try sleeping without panties, if possible, and without too much blankets, either, so you don't sweat.
At school, go to the bathroom as often as you can and try to get as dry as possible.
ONLY WEAR COTTON PANTIES. This is a big one. Synthetics will make you sweat which makes yeast happy.
Avoid all sweets, and if you can, carbs as well. Yeast loves anything it can turn to pure sugar. This one sucks, but it will provide relief.
To keep this from reoccuring, try acidophilous pearls. You can find them at the health food store, and they are expensive, but you don't have to refirgerate them and can start taking them right away. They will do nothing but good for you, even when you don't have an infection. Try to take at least one every couple of days if you can't afford to take them every day.
Do load up on garlic, including garlic pills, because you'll never be able to consume enough otherwise.
Drink as much water as you can without floating away.
This next piece of advice I'm going to give with a huge warning: it is not for the faint of heart. I did this once when I was DESPERATE and there was no relief in sight, and yes, it WORKED, but it SUCKS HARDCORE. If you are super desperate, put some tea tree oil down there. Not inside, mind you, but on the outside areas where the itching might be pretty awful. It will burn like you've just set yourself on fire (believe me when I say this), but it will also bring some relief after the fires have subsided a bit.
I've heard that the unsweetened yogurt works wonders, but have never tried it. Go for it!
I also read recently that myrrh is a fantastic antifungal and antiviral for both internal and external use. You might consider trying that, too. It tastes nasty, but there are capsules. It's great when you have a cold. :O) And you could try mixing some with some olive oil to make a kind of cream... Just a thought.
Anyway, I hope you get some relief! Hang in there, hun.
