It Ain't Over

It has been two years since I was told my CGMS was approved by Blue Cross. They initially gave me a phone ok to order one so I asked for written confirmation. Letter came a month later denying it.
I called and wrote and got a final no go.
So I let it go and got a call in July from Mini Med, said they have an agreement now with Blue Cross to cover the CGMS. So I started in again. Had a few hoops to jump through, got the final (grudging) auth letter and the CGMS was shipped to my house last Thursday.
Spent the weekend reading all of their materials and found the thread started by Subby with Poodlebones info to be more helpful. So I set it all up and started it Sunday. I did not want to wait for any more interferance. Did not want to take a chance they would take it away from me either!
Anyway it has gone nearly perfectly. I did it exactly as Poodlebone wrote, in fact I printed the pages and just took it one step at a time.
The startup went very well. First calibration two hours later and it started giving readings shortly later. I checked again a meter and it has stayed within 5 points of the meter, with the exception of a rather sharp drop where it read 60 and was showing two down arrows. I had been out yesterday cutting firewood and started to feel a little off. Looked at the readings and hurried to the house and checked. Got a meter reading of 34. By that time I was really starting to feel it and had a little trouble finding something to eat. After that I set the alarms.
Just wanted to thank Poodlebone for the time spent writing the notes. Very helpful. I hope the rest of the CGMS goes this well.

Congrats! I was shocked that my CGMS approval was so easy/fast - from the time Dexcom submitted it to my insurance to the final approval (which required additional info from my Doc's office) was just 6 business days.

I expected a fight, but Humana surprised me :)
