Testing solution and use

I'm fairly new to diabetes and I'm wondering about the testing solution for verifying the meter. Do you test your meter and if you do how often do you do it?

I'm using a One Touch Ultra 2. The kit said it should have a bottle of solution in it, it didn't. Should I get some and test?

The general rule of thumb is test your meter with every new lot of test strips. You'll see the lot number on the side of the strip cannister. A lot means that the items were all processed in a giant batch and all items in that batch are virtually identical to one another.

I'd get some if I were you. There should be two levels, one high, one low.

I tested once about five years ago. I had a faulty meter that I learned about the hard way by getting 911'd. I probably tested once or twice before that.

I have no intentions of ever testing them.
