That is too cool! Love the touch screen. Not sure about the pump and cannula setup though? Am I understanding it right? The pump attaches to the skin too? The activity tracker with the accelerometer, that's a handy dandy tool. Just bought a Tritan cell phone that has it and love it.

Very cool looking pump and pda, but.....the cannula sticks to your skin but what happens to the little pump that is attached? They don't show how it is attached.
They are making some great strides in pumps.

Very pretty. How much of this is down the track, how much the imagination of a designer at this stage? Would be nice to know.
I'm not sure I particularly like touchscreen for complex tasks, going by mucking around with the iphone, but I guess it is probably the way of the future regardless as software and interaction becomes more complex and buttons more and more lacking in terms of options. Nevertheless, the screen lock and how well it is implemented is obviously going to be extremely important here.
Two things I couldn't make out, that would completely break a pump for me, even if it out iphoned the iphone. One was if it had lots of options for released boluses (the example appeared to be a "customised" bolus but seemingly no options for release timing) and another is whether it had multiple set types. Neither of these things were "sexy" enough to show, I guess.
Nancy, I guess one would tape the actual pump down, I can't see it working any other way. Will be very interesting to hear more info about this if it eventuates.

Subby, I could have practically written your post. I love the touch screen on my iPod Touch, but think I may prefer the buttons on my pump. Feels more durable. I love how integrated everything is together, but feel this could be accomplished through a computer link equally well, with the pump device being something that resembles my Paradigm. I actually love the form of my Paradigm, but feel that Medtronic misses out on SO many opportunities for software improvement. Also noticed no option for extending bolus.
I too wonder how far down the road this is. Remember when everyone was so excited about the Flex insulin pump? Yeah, that was like 2 years ago and we haven't heard anything about it since. It's easy to come up with good ideas and create a fancy looking website. Implementation is hard. I'll believe it when I can order it.

Thanks John, I think that my Ipod is as far as it goes. :)
I want to see one for real! Alas, I bet it will be a long time until one makes it to the States. Thanks for sharing...

This looks so COOL! I love my iPhone to pieces, so this would be GREAT for me! I wrote a note asking to be contacted when they do US trials. How cool would that be??

I've found very little about this device except that it's UK based and it's not yet available.
Besides the concerns expressed, I don't see a CGMS nor an ability to incorporate third party meters. Personally I'm not keen on carrying around an electronic device to operate my pump. I'd like at least some functionality on the pump itself. I am not suffering from manual entry. Also I know I wouldn't enter carbs or exercise or use the reporting features. This is just bling to me.

Yes this is just like stepping on cold water John. I would find this too radical to use. If this came with a CGMS then I would consider it.

No mention of reservior size either. I like the meter though. it would be nice if it had other options available to. Imagine the ability to upload your results to a site for your doctor to review.

Yes! Veektor, you can start using it right now... go to https://carelink.minimed.com/patient/entry.jsp?bhcp=1 , make an account and start uploading!
The cellnovo will be available in the new year.
I sent an email asking for details of the pump and got a load of garbage back in sales pitch that told me nothing except the pump was great and watch the web site for info.
Must admit after asking specific questions I expected answers.
By phone is a waste of time as just an answer phone.
My opinion for what it's worth is I wont be bothering. Customer service is the pits.
I think you will find it's the starbridge pump everyone has been talking about for years but not sure.

I love the concept. Aside from the small reservoir noted above, I also worry about battery consumption for the wireless. When my mm508 pump was new, I used the wireless key fob for a few days and it chewed up those 357 batteries like crazy. Innovation is a wonderful thing.
