An EAS Carbadvantedge chocolate fudge shake.

I wish I could do those. I have so many food allergies I can't eat or drink the carbadvantage stuff or the low cal high protein stuff. That is what put me in the hospital, my face blew up LOL funny now.....not then. I have to stick to nature......and hope for the best. :T

I had an Atkin's Low Carb Chocolate Fudge bar (one of the breakfast types).

I'm already hungry again.

Went for broke this AM...one fried egg sandwich and coffee w/ cream & Splenda. Arnold's whole wheat Sandwich Thins, toasted and buttered, w/ 2 fried eggs between. I try to add quite a bit of protein & fat to tip the carb ratio when I eat something like those Sandwich Thins.

This oughtta be interesting on the BG front...I woke up high today with a 125. I probably deserved that one...yesterday was rough. :o I wasn't horrid, but I pushed the limits.

Wasn't going to eat for a while but by breathing, it went up to 136. Might as well eat.
Sooo...I'm fighting fire with fire.
I must be in a mood.

Testing convenes in half an hour...

How have those sandwich thins treated you?

How have those sandwich thins treated you?

The jury is still out on that one, Jeremy.

If I toast one half (side) of one and slather it with Omega 3 chunky peanut butter, I barely move the meter 10 points. It was my first meal of the day that day, but it was closer to noon. I have yet to double it and see if that makes an enormous difference. A happy thing to occasionally add to my menu.

I made a smoked turkey & provolone sandwich w/ mayo for a fly away supper one night and it raised my BG about 20 or so points. Not bad for a "bread meal.".

Today, in a mood over my fasting numbers, I used a whole one to make a fried egg sandwich and one hour into it, I'm up by 37 points. :( First time I've tried it with eggs...and in the early AM, when I'm most sensitive to carbs.

But it's been nothing like what you've experienced with them.
Then again, YOU get to eat mashed potatoes...;)

Just tested again and my BG is dropping...so a peak pf 37 is what happened.

LOL just so you know what I think, you are doing great. If I eat 1 slice of bread, high fiber or not, my BG raises by 100 to 175 points,,,,,your peaks are super, keep up the good work. :D

Oh my - today WOULD be the day you'd ask this! :D :D :D

Well, we had bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, sourdough pancakes, honeydew melon, orange juice, milk & coffee. I partook of some bacon, sausage, eggs, one pancake with agave syrup and coffee. My BG was at 112 after about 90 minutes. Will test again in a little bit to keep an eye on the agave.

A very nice Latte was my breakfast.

I generally don't eat breakfast, except at the weekend and then it's normally two small slices of wholemeal bread, toasted, with some cheese or cold meats. I occassionally will have a small pitta pocket stuffed with the meat & cheese. I made a nice breakfast for myself last weekend. Got a small ramekin, lightly greased it with some butter, then lined it with some cooked ham and cracked a large egg into it. Placed in the oven for about 10 minutes (until egg cooked my liking) at 180c/360f. When I took it out of the oven I put some fresh ground black pepper on top - ok, so I had two of them. :D

Scrambled egg whites, 2 strips of soy bacon and half a large red delicious apple. bg 110 - 122.

Also had good bg results with new cereal HiLo maple pecan served with plain light soy milk.

My favorite breakfast lately was discovering Big Train low carb pancake mix, yum. I get better results from this plate of pancakes than from a piece of whole wheat toast. and it's even more yum with Smart Balance on top, sf cool whip on side, and blueberries, cinnamon, and nutmeg mixed in the batter.

We've been picking fresh figs lately too. And there are even still a few watermelons growing! No apple tree here but our lemon is doing nicely.

I've had good bg results but not losing weight anymore. I've found too many good low carb foods!

Thanks, Poppy. You're a sweetheart to say so.

But do know that slices of bread, even whole grain, raise my BG higher that this other item I've mentioned. Not as high as what you've described happening (good grief - happens to me with rice or oatmeal!), however, but almost double the spike of these Thins.

The entire Sandwich Thin is about 17 net carbs (21 minus 4 grams of fiber)...the equivalent, I think, of one slice of toast/bread. Yet I'd bounce more with the bread...probably 'cause I'd likely eat it as buttered toast. I really think the presence of the protein/fat combination helps avoid real disaster in my case.

BTW, love the Halloween windows!

Jeremy, no syrup. smart balance (butter), and sugar free cool whip. I haven't tried the sf syrups yet.

Josselyn, Big Train is available online at amazon or netrition (costs less here, but still about $4) and I'm sure other places. It's kind of bland because of the no sugar thing. so not a regular pancake, but close enough for me!

I made a pita bread sandwich this morning with half a pita, soy crumbles and a cherry tomato and a little shredded cheese. yum. I only found these pita breads yesterday at walmart. and bg 114 before and 116 at two hours. went for a 20 min walk in the two hours. but almost no rise. and this is with no meds now. just aspirin. I am so happy about pita bread!

also posted about this on the pita bread thread in chit chat section.
oat bran & whole wheat flour pita bread from Josephs Heart Friendly. says no cholesterol, 1.5 fat, 7 protein, 10 carbs, 5 fiber, so 5 net carbs for whole one. These are the softest pita breads I've ever seen.

Designer Whey chocolate protein shake, made with unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a handful of walnuts, and a tablespoon of MCT oil. Yesterday, I had a small avocado instead of the walnuts.

Always the same Monday to Friday...what can I say I am a creature of habit. LOL
3/4 c Fiber One Original Cereal
approx. 1/2 c sliced strawberries
1/2 c Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla
1/2 c Egg Creations
counts for a net 25 carbs
Weekends I try to be creative and never really have the same thing.

I had the OMM, they seem to work for me, bumps me about 20 points, otherwise I make an egg white omelet with cheese. When I know I will be home all week, I make a quiche ( no crust) & microwave a slice every morning.

Same most days for me.
3 egg cheddar omelet, sausage patty or bacon, 12 or 16oz latte, lots of pills :T

Latte (half caf, SF flavoring) gives me about 20-30 points up -- and back to normal by lunch time unless I add half a lo carb (no sugar) choc chip muffin as I do occasionally. Then the 20-30 up lasts right until lunch (unless I exercise).

Breakfast was 1/2 cup scrambled Egg Beaters and two waffles with Promise and Agave nectar.

Thank you again Shanny for mentioning the nectar!

BG at awakening was 157--it's always like that after fasting. As usual an hour later it was up to 177. Bolused 25 units Novolog. Breakfast was 60 net carbs--I must find low-carb waffles that don't taste like cardboard! One hour PP was 160. Two hour PP was 100. Then it usually stays normal or slightly hypo the remainder of the day. Medicare will pay for diabetes management classes with a CDE beginning the week of November 9th. It's so stupid, but they make everyone wait one month post-discharge before paying for classes that are really needed upon being discharged.

This batter makes low-carb waffles & they're delicious!

8 oz cream cheese, beaten until smooth
3 eggs
1/2 cup low-carb baking mix (I use Carbquik)
1/2 tsp. Splenda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup buttermilk

Bake in pre-heated waffle iron until medium brown.

I should have mentioned I'm the kind of cook who can burn water. It doesn't turn to steam, it turns into this sticky black gunk on the bottom of the pan.

Learning to make scrambled eggs was one of the biggest adventures of my life. Generally, if I can't toast it or nuke it I eat out.
