Hello, I found this Forum and am trying to get as much information as possible, not so much direct answers, but direction on where to get this information on the board.

I was first diagnosed about 4 years ago when by chance I used my parents meter out of curiousity. It said 273,lol so figured better go get it checked out. Anyway, got it down quickly by cutting out Bread, Sugar, and pasta, the 3 worse offenders it seems. To cut to the chase, had an A1C a few weeks ago, it was 7.6, Fasting BG was 155, and trust me, I know why.....

background

I'm in the Computer Operations field, and many years ago I started to get used to eating only once a day, at night, with a few snacks afterward, those habits are still with me today. I'm not overweight, 5' 7", 178lbs and have never been. My father, his father, and his father had diabetes, I'll assume that's why I'm dealing with it now.

In any case, I've gone back to NO bread, and NO Pasta for the past week and have seen signs of BG going down, but not very quickly. I'm still having Fruits, like Strawberries and pineapples, all fresh, and smaller portions, but still having them. My BG reads anywhere from 105-125 at 6:00 P.m. each day, then anywhere from 150-165 each morning. Two weeks ago, those readings were much higher.......but that is progress right?

lastly, I'm very interested in the mechanism of the disease, and terms I've read on here like "Liver Dump" and such. Where could I get information about these things?

So there, a rambling of sorts, if someone could point me, I'll figure out the rest, lol

Thanks Much
Gallo

Welcome Gallo!
Are yoy diagnosed type 2? Some of the things you mention come across as more like a 1.5. Might want to go into that forum and start asking questions.
Here we are all working to get through it all. The maze of MD's, endos, treatment plans, different meds are all tough to get sorted out. Don't feel dum for asking. Some of the obvious things are never spoken at the md office.
Going low carb is always a good thing with any of the various diabetes types. Stay with it. An a1c of 7.6 would translate to an average blood glucose of 193 and that is high. Not every chart will translate it that hi, but many do.
Time to get it under control and you have found a good place to get some information.
