HOW LONG does it take for your BG to come back down?

I have had erratic readings, completely unpredictable by carbs or fever, or how I feel. I am pretty much up and about now, yet my FBG this morning was 130!

Frustrating and worrisome when my highest mornings might be 110 before the flu. I hope this stinkin flu did not whack out my beta cells or something ...

Are you feeling 100% back to normal now? If not, your blood sugars are probably not back to your normal either.

Just getting over the flu myself so I sympathize with you. Mine has been pretty erratic over the last week also. BG this morning was 137. The flu can definitely throw your body out of whack.

It takes a while, and don't let it get you down! If you had honest-to-goodness flu, then your body was being ravaged, and is now rebuilding. It's just not right and won't be for a while. Most of us think once we are able to get back to a semblance of normalcy (Up and about, walking, working, not coughing, etc) we are "normal". Not necessarily, depending on how sick you were and how otherwise healthy you are.

Linda, when I have had flu or the like what will commonly happen to me is this: I will feel mostly better, yet BG will continue to be out of whack, then sometime 2 to 3 days later, they seem to suddenly correct back into the usual ballpark. I think chances are your body is still on the journey back to normal.

Okay -- so I guess it will take more time ...

I am not exactly famous for my patience! :D How my husband lived through three international adoptions with me, I will never know, ROFL. I know people who quit after one, because the wait is too tough.

I guess I will have to keep on keeping on, trying to keep as low carb as possible.

Hope things even out for you. Not sure what I got yet, low grade fever, BG all over the place, over reacting to little or no carbs. Aching, kidneys hurt, body hurts, been having a good time around the house making fun of each other trying to walk around and do things.

Marty, all our symptoms were soooo different from each others' it is most likely the flu.

One kid threw up and had stomach pain. And fever. And eventually a COUGH.

Another kid had a temp of 104 and a COUGH.

I had cold like nasal symptoms, chest pain (flu like), and a COUGH.

My husband had a horrible headache, especially when (a bit later) he COUGHED.

See that capitalized cough? It is the only part we all eventually got!

It does feel as though I have a bottle of Elmers Glue in my lungs at the momment, just trying not to let it dry up, if you know what I mean.

Not sure if I have the flu or a bad cold. I had a flu shot last week and now 3 days of sneezing, stopped up sinus', fever, just feel bad. It seems to have raised my blood pressure 130/90 until this pm 102/82. Also wake up bg was higher than normal today, 117. Maybe 10-15 above normal for me. So learning from this site that that happens when you get sick and have D or pre D. I'm thinking if I hadn't had the dang flu shot maybe I'd be well now.
