My 6 year old son wanted to know what my husbend was doing, so he (my husbend) checked my sons blood to show him what he was doing. To make a long story short we have been getting high and reguler (with in limits) results with his blood surger (on a new meter). Anyway his go sent him fro the 2 hour glucose test today. His suger this morning was normal(88) and it was around 195 on my meter (but there results or their test earlier was 25 less then my meter) 30 min after drinking the glucose drink. The second time they tested his blood it was 113.
My question is could he still be a diabetic. He does have other symptoms. 2 nights ago (2 hours after eating) it read 200. I cant seem to find out what he is or what I should do.

Have you taken your son to an endocrinologist (diabetes specialist)? The numbers you have given us make it difficult to say what is happening with your son. Are you sure his fingers were clean before you got the blood sample? Wash his hands with soap and water each time before testing. I hope you take him to an endocrinologist. A pediatrician with a background in diabetes would also be a good choice. Good luck to you and your family.

All the best with figuring this out. I would imagine the doctor should also do an A1C check which will give a better picture of a 3 month average instead of just blood glucose results from a few instances. I also second the mention to make sure the fingers are clean. I know I've messed up a few tests myself because I had something sugary on my finger.

I third the notion to make sure his fingers are clean before testing...

Clean his fingertips with alcohol and recheck. A non diabetic should never have a BG of over 175 at any time......even after drinking a quart of OJ.
