Has anyone has the 2 hour oral surger test (glucose drink) and have normal results. My son has been haveing high readings with his blood surger and had average readings on his test today. Did you late get dianosed with diabeties and what did you do to get dx.

How is his diet? If he is cosuming too many carbs this could explain his high BG's. The oral test is not a diagnosis for type 1. He must have his autoantibodies and C-peptide checked. He should also have his A1C checked.

...which makes me wonder - am I diabetic?
I do insulin daily - both lantus and humalog.
If I don't do insulin - blood sugars rise easily.
35 years ago there were no such tests as C-peptide or autoantibodies - they saw a blood sugar near 900 and started insulin and that is the rest of the story.
?Maybe I'm not diabetic? - I think not, but I also have never done any of the three tests being spoken here - oral, C-peptide, autoantibodies. I think diagnosis can be something other than the testing that we think is necessary these days. Probably even a blood sugar of 900 would still require that tests be done these days - because we have the tests and can do them - we do them. Not that the tests aid in the diagnosis. Failure to maintain a blood sugar below 120 is really the definitive test I would think.
How many of us have had the C-peptide or autoantibodies testing done?

While high blood sugars like that indicate you are diabetic, determining type is important too. I wish I'd had some more tests done when I was initially misdiagnosed as a Type 2. All it did was lengthen the time I felt like krap until I was finally given insulin (cuz, apparently, there's no way a 30 year old underweight person could POSSIBLY be T1).

I haven't had the C-Peptide or Antibody tests done. I was Dx with a fasting number and an A1c.
I guess I"m not too worried about having the C-Peptide and Antibody tests done because my numbers have come down fine with medication. In addition to that, I pretty well fit the mold for a T2 -- almost 30, obese.
That's just my 2 cents.
Edit: Sorry, that may be a little bit off topic. To the OP, how was your son's A1c?
