Hello everyone! I just wanted to send my first post to the forum. I am happy to find this one. I still need to check out some of the threads, but I think I am going to enjoy it here from what I have seen so far. Thanks for having me!

We'd love to get to know you better... could you tell us a little more about yourself and how you treat your diabetes?

Thank y'all for the warm welcome! I am from right outside Houston - 22 miles south, in Baytown.

I was diagnosed T2 on July 22, 2003. Diabetes runs in my family, so I was destined to develop it, but hid my head in the sand instead of addressing the issue beforehand.

I was placed on oral meds first (Metformin and Elavil), but the natural progression of the disease had me placed on insulin December 5th of 2008.

I am single and live with my 79-year-young mother. She needs a little extra assistance these days. Although, I swear she helps me more than she realizes. She is my biggest supporter. I don't think I could have dealt with this journey half as well without her.

I am an Associate Teacher. In my spare time, I enjoy graphic arts, crocheting, reading, etc.

Tell me a little about y'all now. I am anxious to get to know y'all!
