This is an interesting read from the newest online DIABETES HEALTH MAGAZINE. If I were pre-D, I'd keep my eye on this research, it couldn't hurt:

Interesting. I wonder if those of us who are t2 might some day benefit from using some of those herbs as well? I only say that b/c so many debate whether or not pre-d is just the earliest form of t2...

Not that I'm ready to buy a bunch of herbs I've never heard of just yet. But a little more research definitely sounds well warranted.

I agree. If I weren't T1, I'd probably be dabbling in things that might help (carefully.) That's how I found ALA actually does help my neuropathy and a glass of wine in the evening does help with my dp.

BUT...I wouldn't mention it here except in an anecdotal way until the two year, well-constructed, double-blind study was complete. ;)

As Bugs Bunny says, "I'm Thkeptical."

I use a wide variety of herbs, some work, some do nothing. Some are harmless to try, some are a little on the edge of things. Fennugreek, Cinn, Fennel, are all spices, doesn't hurt to try these, along with Ginger, Cayenne.

Up until I got this flu, icky, sicky thing got a hold of me I was maintaining a FBG in the mid 80's-mid 90's, and always returned to under 110 2 hr PP.

Resistant Starch is another beneficial product that has little to no risk.

Bitter melon, which I am taking now, seems to be working fine. It is an eastern Herb, The local people make pickles from the fruit and consume large amounts of this plant. I am a little leary of the homepathic herbs.

Another herb that has been extremely beneficial to my wife and I is Kava, nothing to do with D, but it will rein in the run away anxiety rather quickly.

I am of Indian origin and prediabetic. I have tried tindora in the last few days and it is VERY effective for me. In fact couple of times I had more than 8 and felt my glucose level going very low (feeling very tired, measured my glucose and saw it was around 70; usually it is around 100). So be careful not to take too many.

Tindora is available in almost all grocery stores in US and India. Eat raw, they taste just like cucumber. But make sure you wash them thoroughly.

Give it a try and see what happens. For me it is very effective if I take it 30 minutes before a meal.

Of course nothing can beat proper diet and exercise.

Right after making the above post, I found the following.

Xiaoke pills work well for me here.
A 1 month supply is less than $10.
