Other sites for the CGM sensor???

I've read where a few people have mentioned that they wear their CGM sensor on places other than the stomach. I know the literature from MM encourages you to place the sensor on the abdomen, but I am very petite and, frankly, there's not a lot of places on my stomach to place it, being that I also have a lot of small moles there as well. I've been wearing it for the past 3 wks and I will say the the most irritating thing is that when I pick up my 2 yr old, the sensor is usually knocked or kicked no matter what I do to try and protect it.....2 year olds could care less about mommy's sensor that is hidden under her shirt ;) !

I've worn mine on the backs of my arms (DH has to insert for me), on the "love handles" of my lower back and am currently wearing one on the outside of my thigh.

I've had success with them (accuracy-wise) in these places. Do you firmly tape the sensor/transmitter down? I find this is critical for accuracy as well as for "sensor safety" as far as my 4 1/2 year old goes :)!

There are a bunch of folks on the forum who use sensors and will also be able to give you some other tips and suggestions!

I like my arms a lot but since I live alone I have to insert them myself. The Minimed inserter makes it easy enough to do. Mine are kind of on the top/outer arm, the area where it's more muscular because that's where I can reach to insert, attach the transmitter & tape it all down. I also use my thighs, the very upper area toward the top of the thigh but getting close to the outside. That's worked very well for me, is extremely comfortable but I've found that they do leave red marks behind. I've only started using that area several months ago and haven't had a thigh site in for at least 6 weeks or more, and I can still see red spots. It's not infected or anything, but they are kind of ugly. They do seem to be fading. I can barely see where a sensor has been on my arm after just a couple of days.

I don't like my abdomen, especially my lower abdomen, because the transmitter digs into my skin and can sometimes really hurt when I'm bending over.

I wear a dexcom but I put the sensors on my arms... I would like to investigate using some other areas like my upper back or even love handles, but until my DH wants to step up and help with insertion more than just clipping the transmitter in place I don't really see that happening.

I have been waiting to see someone wearing a dexcom on the arms. How do you like it? I think I am going to try the arms, but wanted to find someone who does it.
