a few days ago I had put in a new infusion set, and must have hit a nerve and/or blood vessel. It hurt, but it worked, so I just literally dealt with the pain in my side for a few days. Today, I finally changed out the site. The old one poured blood. No problem, cleaned it up. Finally three days of a painful site done with.

Now I'm at work, and guess what? I've been getting a no delivery for the last few hours, since I put in the new set. I tried forcing insulin in, but the pump kept bombing out. So I finally took the set out and it's kinked!!! I put it in my gut, which has plenty of soft fat (my spare tire), so how in the frak did it get kinked? I hate it when that happens, because I just threw out $25 bucks, for only two hours, and I have no coverage. RRRRRR!

To boot, I have no backup stuff in the office (that's another story, about an unlockable drawer and a cleaning lady at night). My BGs are at 9 (162) right now, and I have no insulin. And we have a goodbye pizza lunch for an employee today. Holy ****, one of THOSE days eh?

Any chance there is a local branch of the pharmacist that you use (do they have you on file?) who might be able to provide a syringe for you to use with your pump insulin?

Hi Injecto,

Like many days with the big D, what an everloving PIA!

I'd go to the nearest pharmacy and buy a 10 pack of syringes. (Explain your situation and it should be no problem.) Like Frank said, you can use the insulin out of your resevoir.

I have had enough site failures that I am considering going off the pump. It's truly a conundrum right now for me. It's so darned convenient WHEN IT WORKS and such a pain when it doesn't. Overall, I usually don't discover a problem until I am (way) high and my A1C is ruined for another three months.

I hope you are able to set things straight and in the future just put extra sets in your drawer or car. I bet the cleaning lady wouldn't even know what they are!

Sorry to hear about the set problems. I've dealt with a painful set before and I have insurance coverage. Just hate taking one out when it's working, even with pain. I'm also sorry tp hear that you can't leave any supplies at work, but you should always have at least a syringe with you, maybe in your meter case. It's easy enough to get insulin out of a pump reservoir/cartridge.
