View Full Version : For Parents of young children w diabetes
I was one of those kids who was terrified of injections and it was frightening to be diagnosed with diabetes. If you have a child who is very young or needle-phobic, here is a good idea from the current issue of Diabetes Health.
It's called a "Buzzy" and it removes a bit of the scary part of injections and some of the pain also.

Now that is thinking outside the box! Bravo to Pediatrician Amy Baxter, MD :congrats:
We found distraction a powerful tool when Josh was a baby... if ever he started crying when strapped in his car seat (the "get me out of here..!" yell) his Mum and I would start howling like wolves as we drove along... the puzzled look on his face was priceless and invariably he forgot all about his discomfort. He's a 19 year old University Student now

That is a wonderful idea! Not only with the buzzing bee & ice pack but the cards to further distract them.
Frank, that's so funny! You do realize however, now it's going to be impossible to read a post from you without visualizing the howling...
