I was diagnosed Aug 1st (A1c - 9.1 and Glucose 320). Since then I have lost 50 lbs and have running 3/4 mi per day and walking 1 1/4 miles. I feel terriffic. I have changed my diet and for the last couple of months my readings have been mid to low 90s in the morning and 95 - 105 before supper.

For the last week or so my morning numbers have been 100 - 110 and my before supper numbers have been about 110 - 115. I would retest immediately and get a reading about 15 points higher or lower. I know this isn't incredibly high but they are higher than I was experiencing. I haven't changed anything from where my numbers were before. A few weeks ago I got my follow up checkup with an A1c of 6.0. That was about 2 months since I was diagnosed.

Any suggestions for why my numbers are up a little??

congratulations on your spectacular progress, ct. There are any number of reasons that this might happen. A slight cold, just under the surface, different body response to your exercise, forgetting to wear your tin foil hat, thus allowing aliens to take over. I once was able to prove, to my own satisfaction, that one vial of test strips read a little higher than normal. It's great that you are aware of this change, but I would suggest that you try not to let it bother you. Just be aware and watch for a trend over the next week or two. Personally it took a good six months from dx before I was able to follow this advice.

Maybe it is the strips. This all started when I opened a new bottle. Is there any way to check the strips (w/o buying a new bottle)? lol

My tin foil hat is in perfect working order. I just got the idiot 1500 upgrade, so I'm sure that's not it.

Are those numbers that I posted troublesome?

Thank you.

No, those are not troublesome at all.

My endo tells me that as long as they are between 80 and 120 we are good. I told her I had aim for a 5 for my A1C and she said it was too low, and not necessary..lol..

IMO, your numbers are not concerning. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't try for even better, but I'll bet most people would love those numbers. Personally, I just kept using the questionable strips. The minute I opened a new vial, my results improved. As in your case, the results were not enough different to be too alarming. (PS, I am hoping for the 'idiot' model for Xmas)

Thanks for the advice sumi. I opened a new vial and presto my numbers are back to "my" normal. That's what this forum is for.
