Freedom Freestyle lets me test in many areas of my body. I use my fingers though, but maybe you want to get a meter where the lancet depth can be adjusted to poke your arm or leg?

Adjust your lancet depth. I get 'em too.

Oh, and don't forget to rotate which finger you use as well. You can also dig out the black dot with a pin if you're very, very careful.

Hi Lecsiy. When my fingertips get like yours, I do the bloodtest on my "big toes"!!!
All the best

They do go away with time, too. Well, they do for me.

Seriously?! Your Big toe?! I'm not sure if that the best thing to do seeing as we're much more prone to foot problems/infections than regular folks....

ROFL! Good point.

I consider the little black dots to be badges of my condition ... part of my identity!

Now -- that liver spot that has come up on my temple ... whole different matter.

I guess you could look at the liver spot as kind of a blessing. At least you know your liver's still workin'! :D

I'd kill to be able to see that good, again.

Seriously, where do you test on those days when your fingers won't give up any blood? I've been having problems with this all day and had to crank my lancing device up to Hammering Nail Into Finger mode! Now even that's not working.

Be sure your hands are warm before you test. Washing with warm water, shaking, massaging - anything to get the blood moving. I keep my lancet set for its deepest puncture anyhow, since the poking doesn't bother me, but I hate wasting one of those expensive strips due to too small a sample.

There's a possibility that from so much testing that you're out of blood. I suggest you try again tomorrow. :D

Yep, I was afraid that might be case. It would explain why I'm so pale today despite spending a few hours roasting in the warm South Florida sun!

Thanks, Shanny.

Gack, so far four of the 50 strips in the current vial have been bad. I'm testing far more than Medicare will cover so I'm having to pay cash for. Is there somewhere online I can order them from? CVS prices are insanely high! We don't have a Walmart anywhere near us. And I'm not going to contribute to the black market by purchasing them on Evilbay.

If Ebay is the cheapest place to buy, why not go there? If you like spending so much money on stips, buy from Ebay, then set the remainder you would have spent on fire.;) I think about all pharmacy/super stores are about the same price. around here its about $100 for 100 stips:eek:

I put lotion on my hands every couple of days. I have found that really helps me.

An endo that I use to see (he works for Eli Lilliy now) has diabetes and told me that he doesn't use his thumbs or his right index finger, but starts at the next finger over and uses that one for Monday, the next one for Tuesdays tests, and so on, that way each finger has 1 week to "heal" before the next round of tests. This has worked great for me. I typically test 8 to 10 times per day & had exactly what you describe, since I tried this method, my fingers are 99% better

I'll try that, thanks.

So far I have two fingers that won't give up any blood at a lancet setting I can tolerate without screaming in pain, and I was told to never use the pinkies or thumbs. That leaves four fingers I can test on and they hurt like you know what all the time. I can hardly even touch anything without wincing in pain.
