Hi,

I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes on 9th Aug,2009. I had absolutely no idea, did not identify any symptoms. I had gone for a routine medical test mandatory for a job and I found out.

The values were not too high.
On Aug 9th - Fasting(F):133, Post(P):189
On Aug 16th - F: 99, P:191, A1c: 7.3
On Sep 29th - F:113, P:183

On all these days I fasted for 10 hours before taking the first test, then had breakfast and waited 1h30min to take the next one.

I used to lead a sedentary life style. I am 28, 6ft 1in (185cm) and used to weigh 89kg (196lb). My doctor advised me to start working out daily and prescribed a fiber rich diet in order to lose weight. I didn't start on any medication.

I checked my BG today and it was 99(F) and 117(P). I have lost 3kg(~6lb).

I have a question. How can the BG post breakfast reduce by so much. I was told that a value less than 170 would be good(normal). On this forum I have read that 2 hours post prandial should be around 140. Mine was 1.5 hours after breakfast and it is 117. Is there a cause for concern. I have an appointment with my doctor in the weekend. Just want to put my mind at ease till then.

This forum has immensely helped me. This is my first post and I would like to thank all the regular posters, who are spreading awareness and knowledge regarding diabetes.

The combination of diet & exercise is what's lowering your blood sugar readings. Your numbers look great, so no need to be concerned.

Everyone has a different "target range". I prefer that my blood sugars be between 80-110 prior to a meal and no higher than 140-150 two hours after.

Your doctor will most likely do another A1c seeing how your last one was in August. Please let us know how you make out with your appointment.

What you probably read was that 2 hours pp should be 140 or lower, the lower the better. A normal person without diabetes generally has a BG around 80 1.5 hours after eating.
