Maybe this is why my sugars are so out of whack this week? I got the shot Friday, and even though the time change obviously threw me off, today I am so insulin resistant it's mind-boggling. I don't *feel* sick, just very tired and sluggish, but I can't tell if it's from the blood sugars or residual flu shot effects.

I received my seasonal flu shot last month and had no blood sugar problems at all. Could be you're just worn out or coming down with something?

I've had both seasonal and h1n1 and had no sugar effects.

I took the flu shot last week ... felt a little achey that evening only. No other side effects. The H1N1 isn't available here yet & I haven't decided whether to take it or not if it becomes available.

I got the seasonal flu shot Tuesday evening. No noticable effect on my sugars so far.

Just got my seasonal shot. Too late for the H1N1! But ... the thought of ANOTHER flu this season ... was too much to bear!

I am still waiting for mine. They started clinics the week before last and then ran short... so they changed the rules about who qualifies as "at risk". Hopefully next week.

Aw heck no, Frank ... no one is bothering. H1N1 IS the prevalent strain here, right now. I am playing the odds, I know, but ... my bet is that it WAS. Not like it is available yet, anyhow ... :T

I just got the regular flu shot and no bg changes. I did have some pretty serious soreness the next day and usually it's not like that except with the pneumonia jab.

I got the H1N1 yesterday and apart from an extremely sore arm no problems..but I get the same arm thing with regular flu jab anyway..

I take the sore arm as a good sign that your body's immune system has responded to the shot... that's what it is supposed to do.

If I recall correctly there was a recent study suggesting not to give children Tylenol after the flu shot, as this could lessen the immunity gained from the shot.

frank...i read that too. it's not just for the flu shot though, it's for any vaccine.

i think it's ok to give them tylenol AFTER the shot IF they develop fever...but they are saying if you administer Tylenol before a vaccine, it reduces the potency of the immunization.

a lot of MDs recommend you give your child Tylenol BEFORE. i have never done this myself.

I had the regular flu shot and it didn't affect my sugars.

Got the regular flu shot early on in the fall, and received the H1N1 last week. Both times I saw a bit of redness at the injection site, and I felt a bit lethargic after the H1N1 shot. Didn't want to receive the H1N1, but I got it for work.

What kind of advice is everyone getting about the H1N1 vaccine? I got the regular vaccine with a mild, short term reaction (aches) and now feel fine. It seems logical to get the vaccine. I'm open to advice!

First flu shot with D I swore it effected me, after that it never did again.

I got the H1N1 shot a few days ago and my arm has been red and swollen and sore. Hope that is a good sign that my immune system is working. Only problem is that I definintely have noticed that my readings have been so high - really higher than ever and I hope this will pass when I see the arm getting back to normal. Maybe all my energy is going to the shot ? Has anybody else had trouble with that and for how long did it last? ( in the meantime I have increased my basal Levemir and also my NovoRapid).

Brand new Type 1 diagnosis in our family...my 7 year old son. There is an H1N1 clinic this Saturday... The diabetes ed people recommended we get him vaccinated. Thought I'd ask around on here as well... good idea? What should I watch for with a child? (reaction?...I should preface by saying in our family we typically don't even get seasonal flu shots... knock on wood, but no one's gotten the flu that I can recall..)

I continue to hear mixed news on the availability. Some of you are saying you've gotten the vaccine, yet the qualifications seem to be restricted to kids, pregnant women, health care providers and infant parents. Any updates beyond this list?

Also, has anyone gotten this flu?
