Ok I have noticed that my BS during the last 2 weeks have not been as low as it usually is: I would normally get under 100 during the day - especially mid afternoon and my night BS PP would usually be around 5.4 (97) My morning BS is always slightly elevated but mostly around 5.7 to 5.9

Now I am noticing that my am level are always 6.1 - 6.3 (with the occasional 5.7 - 5.9 very very rare).

My afternoon levels is around 5.1 ( what happened to the 4's - I used to see) and PP and dinner time is now usually 5.9!

Two weeks ago ( Sunday) I was stung by Jellyfish - went Kayaking and decided to swim (figured I swim faster than I row) and unknowingly swam into some jellyfish!! first time I ever got stung and have to tell you - thought I was having some sort of mild heart attack. Anyway couple of hours later when I got home I applied vinegar and thought everything was alright. It was during that first week that I noticed my levels was creeping up slowly .... but it was creeping up! I still maintained my level of fitness activity for the week - even jogging / running for 1.5 hours on treadmill and really elevating my heart rate to 166 bpm.

Anyway come to the weekend at was back at the beach for more kyaking... however was too windy.. the sand was blowing really hard with the wind - so decided to bike instead! Only did that for about 15mins as it really too hot and windy. Went home - walked for about 1/2 hour and decided to give it a rest. The next morning - I was up before 5am as I was extremely itchy..... my whole left side of arm, chest area and back (basically where I was stung by jellyfish) was covered in a rash and welts. I went to doc who prescribe a steroid cream and some antihistamine. Ended up the cream caused even more of an reaction and started to spread! Went back to chemist and got some aloe vera gel and this abated the welts and redness - as well cooled the skin and stop the itching!!!

Could this be why my Bloods sugars were elevated?:(

I'm sorry you were stung by jellyfish. that's an awful pain .
Not sure if it's caused your bg to elevate, it is possible I guess.

I'm not sure about the Jellyfish sting specifically, but any kind of pain/stress can raise your blood sugar.

Plus, steroids can as well, so perhaps the topical steroid contributed some as well.

Hope you're back to normal soon!

Steroids can raise blood sugars.

As has been said, any form of stress on your body (such as illness) can raise your BG, I would think that the same could be true of Jellyfish stings - if it's causing pain, then it's stressing your body. Also steroids can raise BG, not sure if steroid creams can do the same but guess it's possible.

If you are still in pain and have a rash two weeks after being stung then I really think your best course of action is to see a Doctor as self treatment does not appear to be working.
