I started taking a multi vitiamin and it seems like I need less and less lantus, is there a correlation between the two?

What kind of dosage reduction are you talking?
If there is a connection, I think the likeliest explanation is that you are supplementing a vitamin or mineral that is inadequate in you, that normally aids in insulin usage/absorption or reducing insulin resistance. Is chromium in your multivitamin?
A big change would not be normally expected, if it's dramatic I'd be looking at other possibilities.

I was taking lantus 28 units, now 24
otherwise I wake up low every morning

Waking up low is what made me switch to taking lantus in the morning. Taking lantus in the morning gives me a basal insulin for all my activities during the day, instead of having my basal insulin be exhausted by dinner time.

I end up needing more humalog at night since I take lantus at midnight, I would take lantus in the morning but dont always wake up at the same time, etc

Waking up at the same time might not be a problem, really. At least you are taking the lantus at a consistent time each day relative to the schedule that you operate, i.e. you wake, you eat, you do things - or, whatever. I did the switch to morning lantus on my own and have been pleased with the outcome - no more lows in the early morning hours. Several other people at this forum have also said they take lantus in the morning - but I don't think you would ever get a doctor to recommend it - but they might.

That's not really a significant change - I'd imagine the multivitamins aren't really making a difference and it's just a minor change in your metabolism.

over the past Month I went from 28 units to 20 units and still having night time lows
the only thing I really changed is lack of LATE night meals
having my dinner at 6 or 7 pm as opposed to 9-10-11
would this have any correlation, tonight I will try 18 units and see if that helps

Yes, the meals might have been demanding more of your basal insulin overnight.
If you are still having night lows especially away from late meals, it seems a compelling reason to carefully reduce dose to me.

is it possible that I wasnt taking enough HUMALOG with my late meals and thus lantus was just bringing me down to an ok level upon waking up?
So if I reduce my lantus and have a late night meal, what would be the best method increase my humalog?
