Hi Emmitt. Welcome to DF! Why don't you tell us a bit about yourself, and what brought you here? You found a great spot in which to learn anf share experiences about D. I'm a Type 2, but I'm sure there will be others along to greet you.

I am new at this. i wanted to say hello
Im 34 have been type 1 diabetic since 26. I have to say i hate diabetes it sucks. Now that I got that out of the way I stumbled on this site looking for info on similin. I have been on a pump for about six years, the paridigm 722 and they just started me on four injections a day of similin also. Anyone on similine? I have very hard time controlling my blood suger levels and this seems to be the next step. Sorry for rambling on im new to message boards. Did I mention diabetes sucks?
I am T2 and yes it can suck sometimes. Welcome, here you can find answers, gain knowledge or just vent your frustrations, were all ears here, or should say we are all eyes here.

JenThanks for asking its nice to see people as frustrated as me. My biggest prob is def food choice. I eat on the run alot so it is hard to pick the right things and I have a horrible sweet tooth i cant shake.

Hi Emmitt,
Welcome! This is a great place for siWe have some stuff in common! I was diagnosed as type 1 when i was 26 also! Also on the medtronic pump (I'm 522 though) and just started symlin to try to get a better handle on things in the morning. So far, the symlin has been great. Minimal nausea and it seems to bring down the 1 hr reading and "shut off" for the two hour so I don't go too low.
How's it going for you?
Again, welcome!!!

Thanks for the welcome. I just started the sim today and yes I have mild nausea not to bad though i dont care ill try anything right now. I was wrongly diagnosed as a type 2 at 26 After finding a good endo i was informed i was indeed type 1 my endo said my gad 2test revealed if diabetes was a gift I got the biggest one she has ever seen and was shoocked it took till 26 for it to reveal itself. Since then iv gained about 60 pounds, I tried the sensors but got to frustrated . Dont get me wrong im not at all happy you have diabetes but it is nice to talk to people in the same boat any advice is good advice. My mornigs are also a big prob for me I need tripple the amount of insulin in the morn.

As a 21 year veteran of Type I, I don't find it to be that bad. I'd rather not have it than have it, but it is a disease that allows one to live a normal, obstacle free life. Cannot say I know much about Similin, I've been a Humalog user for the past 12 years and am going to try Apidra starting with my next endocrinologist visit.

I guess for some it is easiar then others. Unfortunatly I find it very hard to get under control. I think you will like the apidra ive been using it in my pump for about 2 years now it seems to work well.

I am on a pardigm 722 it can be used with the sensors wich are good if you have decent control if not your alarms will be going off all the time but the pump itself works pritty good and holds about 280 units. It says it holds 300 but I think it s about 280. My endo just started me on similin on top of my insulin to stop spiking i just started it yesterday so we will see how it goes. Good luck with new pump

how new is the model. the main reason i'm getting a new one is cause i've dropped mine a few times so it's got crackes and the company has stopped making them. i had a look at some info on the paradigm it looks good. thanks :)

Welcome to the forums.
Sorry to hear you are having control problems at the moment, perhaps if you could tell us a little more about your diet and medications people could offer suggestions to help you.
