Hi all, I just found this site tonight and have been digging around for a couple hrs.... Looking into food info and I have to agree with posts on Chinise... I love Kung Pow and would hate to give it up....

I was diagnosed last Monday after a visit to the emergency room and a day and 1/2 in ICU as a T2.

They tell me at 1350 I should have been in a coma...
Apparently being extremly stuborn can be a good thing. :hypocrite Even though the wife may find it frustrating at times. :D Ah well stuborn is a family trait on both sides....

Hi pbmax and Welcome. 1350 !!!! WOW !!!!! When I was diagnosed as a T1, 20 years ago, my bs was only in the 800's. Take care, ask questions, and learn everything you possibly can. :D

HI and Welcome!

I'm glad you have found us. We are a nice group here, and hopefully you'll want to stick around.

Looking at your blood sugar level at diagnosis, I am really surprised. I didn't realize that Type 2s could reach those levels, but I guess anything is possible. I think those levels are mostly reached by Type 1s, even though I wasn't near that range. I was only in the 600s . Anyway, I'm sure your doctors know what they are doing and most likely have the right dx.

Welcome again!

1350... wow... (not too sure what that is in ''my terms'' lol but still sounds like you were lucky not to be in a coma...

Don't hesitate to ask anything, someone here will be able to answer them I'm sure!!

The Doc figures the 1350 was due to the fact that I was drinking sugar loaded drinks and snacks trying to compensate for the thirst and lack of energy over a period of a week or so.

Thanks all, for the warm welcome. Being only 34 and having gone to my Doc for a very nasty sinus infection the Wed before.

You can imagine how suprised I was, when I went back the following Monday and he ran some test and then told me to lay down and wait for the ambulance...

After being in the hospital for a few days and having talked to the Doc and nurses and getting info on how and why. I saw that the signs had been there for months if not longer. And one of the blood test they ran on my red blood cells traced it back at least 2 months. What I thought was symtoms due to a severe sinus infection. Dizziness, nausea, dehydration, no appetite. Having been down that road before with sinus inffections including a visit to the emergency room. I made that ol' famous mistake. I assumed..... Shows what I know.... Had I known a bit more about diabetes I might have asked my Doc or gave him more info to help me sooner, who knows... Ah well I've always been one to take things in stride and do what I need to do...
