I'm noticing more and more that I'm overheating at night. Like when I wake up, my skin will be excessively warm -- not sweaty, but fever-warm. My pillow is too warm to sleep on comfortably! It's not lows -- believe me, I've woken myself up completely to test and been reallllly annoyed that I did so for a 92 (or similar number!).

Don't get me wrong, I'll sleep through the night most nights, but the warmth when I wake up is ridiculous. It really does feel like I have a fever... but every night?

Menopause? Pre Menopause? Don't get mad if you are not of age LOL. Some people go thru it early. Also hormone flux will do that.

This happens to me also..........don't think it is menopause lol!
I'm sure that this started happening when I started taking Lantus. Not lows as I check also.

I have always "run warm" when I sleep. Even if I doze off in an armchair I will start to expel heat. This happened before I was DX'ed, just normal for me.

Perhaps we are just hot stuff ;)

Yeah ditto. My wife sleeps wearing sweats, covered up with a sheet and a comforter because I have to keep the room cool, ceiling fan on, and sleep totally uncovered.

I don't think it's D related, I've always been like that.

Thyroid? Sometimes if your thyroid is going you get hot flashes ... or just get hot!

This is something I can relate to also. I sleep with my bedroom door closed, have a 4' tall stand fan at the foot of my bed, and have a window unit AC 5' away from the side of my bed set at 60. Yet EVERY morning (without fail), I am awake within 15 minutes (either side) of 3 am, burning up. I have always been warm at night, as I need to have a body pillow to hug to separate my legs, but since dx., it seems to get worse.

This. It's November in NY and I'm still sleeping with the fan in the window. I love having nice, heavy covers on me, but I wind up throwing them off within a few hours of falling asleep. This never happened to me before D.

It might be hormones. I'm nowhere near pre-meno (am 28 :)) but I'm due for a visit from the Blood Fairy within the next week -- maybe I should start monitoring it as a PMS symptom (along with extra hypos and major fat/salt munchy cravings).

This happens to me almost every night, just worse some nights than others. I go to bed cold, wake up so hot I am almost sick. I almost always test low, but do not eat, experience shows me I will wake up high later. I do sit in front of the fan and get a big drink of water, usually go back to sleep. I assumed it was because I was on the verge of a "liver dump", because of the (almost always) high fasting.

Sounds like my hubby and I, only it's me who's always hot and he's freezing. I cracked our window last night and it was in the low 40's. lol

Same here, Robin. Mine's using the electric blanket awreddy, while I throw open the windows & throw off all bedclothes but the sheet! I need air moving, and I simply cannot sleep when it's too warm . . . and I've been like this since childhood!

I'm another one that needs fresh air piped in or a fan moving air around, otherwise I feel stifled. All night long cold...,cover up, wake up hot..... throw the covers off, this is all night. I had an early menopause at 27, right after I had my daughter, that lasted a long time, so it is possible about the menopause thing.

Argh! I have 20 of the 34 symptoms of menopause, including the top 3. And as I trace some of the symptoms back, they go back 6-12 months, but no further. And one risk factor for premature menopause is autoimmune disease :P

*sighs* Guess I'll go make a gyno appointment....

(Well, this would solve my "I don't want kids, but feel too young for tube tying" problem!)

I think they can do simple blood tests to tell you where you are vis a vis premature menopause. It should not be intrusive.

Back when this happened to me,the doctor gave me a hormone injection, which made my period start again, but he said I could either continue with injections or not have periods, which he said a lot of women would not htink that was so bad,so thats what I did(without injections) through the years I have had about 5 periods and now, they have completely ceased,as of about 20 years ago. I've been fine with that.
