I was 276 (blood sugar) after fasting. I am getting meds soon but have had a continuous headache for two weeks.

Thanks

Entirely possible. You can try low-carbing it for a bit until you start on meds, it might help your sugars a bit.

Welcome by the way,

I'm definitely not as informed as others on this board, but I think it's effects vary on all of us. But I have had symptoms similar to a headache in the past with high blood sugar levels. A blood sugar level of 276 for a type 2 diabetic after fasting does not sound good! Obviously, for type 1 I can easily lower my sugar with insulin. However, I do remember the feelings before I was diagnosed and had a constant high blood sugar. It was a constant headache along with many other symptoms. Two weeks sounds long to me. I hope that reading wasnt characteristic of the rest of your readings and that you will not have to live with that level (or higher after eating) for the rest of the 2 weeks. Good luck until everything is figured out. I hope that your sugars are able to be controled with your new medication and that you'll feel back to normal.

I think fluctuations in blood sugar can cause you to have headaches. Sometimes when my blood sugar reaches very high levels, I feel pretty crappy...which sometimes means headaches, feeling tired, and stomach pains too. The best thing you can do is get your blood sugar back to normal or near normal.

Good luck, I hope you feel better soon :)

How soon are the meds coming? I think once you get under control you will feel a heck of alot better. Anything over 300 leaves me feeling awful so I know how you are feeling. Good well soon.

When you say awful, what are the symptoms?
Sorry I am new and want to compare.

Thanks

As you mentioned I also get a headache but then again I get one when it is low also. I get a bit light headed as well and very thirsty of course and extremely tired. I can tell instantly if a infusion set for my pump has gone bad. I start feeling the headache come on as well as nausea. When I feel that nausea coming out I change my set right away and get my sugars back down and its amazing how well I bounce back. That's why I say that as soon as you get your sugars down I am pretty sure you will feel better.

I haven't had blood sugars that high, but when I am around 200 which is very high for me, I have headaches and ache all over.

Yup. (Reader's Digest version of a reply) :)

I get a headache if I go too high and/or too low. The high headache tends to disappear more quickly than the low one, once my numbers are back within a normal range.

If my readings are high (a rare event now) I get headaches with pain in the forehead. If I'm low I get a dull throb at the base of the brain. I'm not sure if that's typical but it's usefull.

Me too Angie. When I get a headache, I know it is time to pull out the meter and see if it's a low, high, or stress headache. :D
King,
Hope you get your meds soon and get to feeling better. Oh yeah, WELCOME :D
