View Full Version : Just when you think
that help is on the way someone moves the help. My hubby and I were referred to a specialist by our g.p. as we are having problems with our BS levels. We were feeling happy that maybe this was the answer we had been looking for. Well ,this morning our hopes were dashed to the ground in a hurry. In talking to the specialists office this morniing they told me it would be 9 or 10 months---yes months ---before they could get us in to see a dr. I told the girl that that just was not good enough, that we needed something now, not next year. We were on the way to see our gp and when we told him he also said-- that is not good enough. I guess we will see if we can get into someone else or we will just have to continue as we are. I sure hope nothing serious happens to either of us in the meantime. We are not sure why we are having such a time right now but I guess we will just have to keep on trying everything we can to figure it our on our own. Heads up and onward we go. :) :) :)

Oh Dode !!! That truly stinks. :( Hopefully your gp can find someone else who can get you in sooner. Take care of yourself and your husband. :D

hi dode..I know how frustrating it can be waiting to get in to specialist. My daughter had to wait over a year to get into a gastroenterologist so that he could give here nexium for her reflux...a year is to long for a child to wait! Or anyone for that matter. I have found that it's best to take charge of your health and keep after the doc's to do their jobs. They are so busy it's no wonder things don't get done. I make it a point to tell me doctor what I'm thinking and what I feel should be done, especially in regards to my diabetes. I was on oral meds and my numbers were just not coming down and my doc was hesitant to put me on insulin. I felt that, that was the best for me and so got my diabetic nurse to push the issue from a proffesional point of view. The result...I'm on lantus once a day and my sugars are great. I'm now regularly in my target range of 3.8 to 5.8. It feels great to be in control and especially to know that I stuck to what I thaught needed to be done. Hopefully, your GP will be able to find another specialist to get you into quicker. Lets us know how it goes.
