Is it true that diabetics need to eat breakfast everyday? And while we're at it 3 square meals a day?
ANd what would happen if id didnt eat breakfast one time?
It's not true...to a point. If you are on an insulin regimen that dictates when you have to eat, then you have to eat when the insulin dictates you have to eat. If you are on a pump or have a well-tuned lantus regimen, you are basically able to eat when you want and skip meals as you please.

I take 80 units of insulin in the morning, so yes I must eat breakfast everyday. And I date 40 units at dinner time, so again I must eat dinner everyday.
As for the 3 square meals, my DR has told me I should be eating 5 small meals a day.

Everyone should eat breakfast every day, that being said, if you on a regimine of Lantus and MDI (Multiplie Daily Injections) then YOUdecide what your eating habits are----I find that a small breakfast and then well placed snak/meals throughout the day help help more than the 3 MEals a Day attitude.

Eri is on that lantus and humalog routine, and it is working great for her...she does opt for breakfast everday(I don't let them go to school w/o it)...and she is usually a miniwheats type of girl or oatmeal(but LOVES eggs and toast and veggie bacon)...it's great that she can bolus in for what she will be eating, but there are times were she does skip breakfast until around 11/noon, like on weekends, b/c she LOVES to sleep in(I take her sugar in the mornings)...her readings have been good enough where she doesn't need any insulin at that time(she takes 30units of lantus at bedtime).

If you're on MDI then you can basically skip any meal you want - I've been known to go for entire days without eating without any problems, and I'm on Insulatard rather than Lantus.
Much of the conventional wisdom about diabetes is a major hangover from the 70s and 80s before we had regular blood testing and better insulins. You can't skip meals, you need to eat lots of starchy carbohydrates, you need to stick to a very strict routine for every day for the rest of your life, you can't eat sweets, you can't drink....I'm sorry, but all of that is utter ****. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever why someone with diabetes has to live a different lifestyle to someone without it. If you wanna skip a meal, then fine, do it. Just make sure you've prepared your insulin doses beforehand to cover it.

Mmmm... breakfast is good. I could eat breakfast three times a day. Don't know what my BG would do without it!

I personally never eat breakfast unless my blood sugar dictates otherwise.
My first meal is not usually until noon (get up around 5).
That being said, it's just a personal preference. Using a pump makes it easier, but I also managed my habits with MDI.
You just have to work out your insulin dosages accordingly.

No that is not true. I was never much of a brekky person even in
High school. I take enough fast-acting Insulin for my, sugars that be, and extra units for the yogurt, piece of cheese and coffee(or other snack). Sometimes I just have a couple of cups of coffee and have a snack a couple hours later. I may cut off a couple units of Insulin(fast-acting) if I am only having coffee. But my long-acting stays the same. I do not have 3 square meals a day. I have 4 or 5 small meals and a couple snacks in a day. Works good for me. :)
