I am off my metformin for the next few days in preparation for my angiogram. I took my last one last night and already I can feel I am getting really high BS. I just tested myself and am sitting at a 14.3 (275). My angio is not until Thursday so I won't get back on my meds until Thursday night at the earliest.

Is there anything I can do to keep the BS down for the next couple of days?

This feels really BAD!!!!!!

Thanks

can you restrict your carbs and do more protien? With an angio are you able to do any walking or exercise? My mother in law (a nurse) said she had a patient that couldn't walk so the patient just flapped their arms up and down until he/she was tired and that helped alot, who knows, it may work for you. You're just going to have to be very strict...not fun I know. At least it's only for a few days, keep that in mind. Good luck and lets us know how the angio turns out :)

Exercise that uses the large muscles of your body, upper body and legs, will burn up carbs the fastest---also, not kidding, think a lot, your brain needs the carbs---stay as far away from anything with carbs as possible----proteins and low fat

you have my sympathy, I HATE highs worse than anything

Yeah, you can NOT EAT and run in circles till your appointment.

Just kidding. I have read that it is hard for you to exercise but I think if you lower your carb intake and move around a bit it could help a little.

Along with the above advice, also drink lots of water. It will help to
get rid of some of the sugar in your body plus it will take up space in your
tummy so that you won't feel like eating as much. Good Luck,Don't Worry.
